| My 14-yr old daughter & I took this trip in June and it was fantastic! I encourage anyone traveling to Monterey to take this trip. Our guide was very knowledgable and personable. We saw dozens of humpback whales, 100s of dolphins, jellies, sea lions, otters, birds, and very few other boats. The captain was great--we were headed back in & saw a few more dolphins, so he turned the boat around & stopped for quite awhile so we could see even more of their antics. It was amazing! Do not miss this trip! p.s. Do NOT rent the binoculars upon check in; they have very little mag power and you can actually see everything better without them. Save yourself $5! It did get VERY cold & windy, despite the end of June, middle of the day, so bring warm jackets too. We had a blast! |

| Pros: Great guides with good insights and explanations
Whale breaching!
Lots of dolphins
Albatrosses flying around
Cons: The company conducting the tour has little control over most of the pros except the guides , none of the others are guaranteed !
The boat rides out really fast deeper into the sea to find dolphins - the rough ride is stomach churning....though the ride back to harbor was smooth. |

Definitely must do while in Monterey

| Overall the trip was very good, if a little too long (4.5hrs). We saw many groups of humpback whales, seals, sea-lions and several interesting bird species (including cormorants and one albatross).
The boat was rather basic with little or no seating and no heating. My wife was sea-sick - the crew were sympathetic but seemed to want to keep us out of the cabin, despite the fact she felt better there.
During the second half of the trip we travelled further out to sea to be over an underwater canyon - this was uneventful. We didn't see any dolphins.
It was a very good trip and quite educational. I would recommend a shorter trip (3 hrs) and a bigger boat (100 feet plus). |

| I think it's a big plus that with this trip you are about 5 hours on the water. This gives you enough time and opportunities to fully enjoy all the wildlife you'll see. It's part of the excitement that you never know when whales or other wildlife show up.
On this trip we did see a lot of Humpback Whales, sometimes really close to the boat and even a breaching Humpback, which was awesome. Also saw some Transient Orca pods. I already fell in love with orca's on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, Canada, and it was great to see here orca's as well.
Furthermore we saw seals, sealions, lot's of seabirds and even a Black-footed Albatross.
So, absolutely a trip to remember and I would definitely recommend it to others.
Great boat and a very kind en knowledgeable crew as well! |

| We are a great experience, we saw lots of whales and orcas, from real close, saw them jumping - incredible vision! Boat was nice, staff very friendly and helpful, and we spent overall 5h on the water, since we saw the orcas on the way back, stopped to watch them. Definitely recommended! |

| We had an awesome time aboard the Pacific Explorer. It was both of ours first time whale watching and we were not disappointed. We first sighted harbor seals, then Humpback whales (over 30), then at the end we observed beautiful Orca whales. I highly recommend this tour as our guides were helpful and funny. |

| This was truly an amazing tour as we were able to see humpback whales, sea otters, and sea lions. The whales came close to the boat which gave us an incredible view. Nonetheless, I would suggest the 2.5-3 hr tour because after 3 hours everyone started getting tired and the motion of the sea started to sicken many. The other 1.5-2 hours seemed to take forever and we didn't see much sea life in this time period. |
