| Going whale watching is great fun, just make sure you have the right gear. It gets so much colder than you would expect. Jacket, gloves, and even a hat would have been great on this warm April day. I got wet in the front, and started shivering like crazy. However, all those things are tehnically my fault, not the company.
Seeing the whales in the wild, was really amazing. The knowledgeable captain was able to follow them and we kept getting really good views of time.
Note that it is a looong ride out and back, 3 hours is a long time on a boat if you're not used to it. It's pretty fun to do once in a while... |

| seemed like a long ride to get where we needed to. wasn't sure if i was really seeing the whale activity that was being described by the "narrator". a little girl vomited inside the cabin. the experience was missing something... felt like time was wasted in Monterey. I think I'll stick with the aquarium... |

| The crew provided much interesting information about the sea life. The whales were majestic.
Two areas for improvement! You need to improve the PA system. We were on the Explorer. We had a hard time hearing things. We often found ourselves asking each other, "What did he just say?" The volume is fine, but the quality of the sound is such that you frequently can't make out what is being said. Also, learn to speak in public; that is, slow down, ennunciate, and repeat things. (Talk to a teacher and they'll tell you how to do it!) Finally, remember there are many foreign visitors who have difficulty understanding. |

| was there April 8 & saw a few gray whales. The whales were far from the boat so we would only see the water spays and the fluke of the whale. pretty relaxing cruise. Maybe we were the not so lucky ones in spotting whales, heard other trips saw a lot of action. |

Pretty good if you don't mind not hearing anything

| We had a beautiful day for the whale watch, and though we didn't see as many whales as I'd have liked (only a couple of grays), the company definitely can't be held accountable for that. The boat was very clean and stable and I'm sure the crew knew their stuff, it was just that I couldn't hear them. Sounded like the speakers for the intercom on the boat sorely need to be replaced/upgraded. General consensus on the bow where we were standing was that it sounded a little like the phone conversations on the Charlie Brown cartoons - wahh wahh wahhh whale wahh wahh. We couldn't understand them at all. I was picking up 1 out of every 5 or so words, which is more than the other people did - I had to keep translating for them.
Other than that, it was a good day out on the water! |

| My daughter wanted to come to Cali as a graduation present mainly to see humpbacks. She pretty much planned this trip down to each event and researched many different websites and decided on this one. Everyone there was super! From answering emails with what we thought we silly questions to the attention given to each passenger on the actual whale watching trip. I would and HAVE already recommended them ... and if we ever return to Cali we will be there on the Princess to see more whales! |

| We spent a delightful 2 1/2 hours on the water. We headed to the location where a female and her calf had been seen earlier in the day and spent an hour watching them.
While none of our pictures will be frameable, we got to see them emerge out of the water many times. The only downside was that the speaker system did not work well; no one could understand what the captain was saying. Fortunately one of the staff was available to describe in person many details about the whales. |

| Once we found the place it was well worth it. Directions to the boat could have been better but we called and they helped us. The waters were rough and I would advise motion sickness meds for anyone the least bit inclined to motion sickness.
The narrator was great. |

| We saw Humpback whales. It was a beautiful day in Monterey. I didn't move about the boat because I was seasick - so just sat at the back while my kids enjoyed the trip. |

| It turned out to be a rather windy and cold day (4 to 5 foot swells) for late March. The weather was clear for this 12 o'clock trip. If one lives outside of Monterey, one has to make a commitment some days in advance, not knowing the weather conditions. I found it hard to stand up and take decent pictures because of the rocking boat, although some people seemed to be more successful. Good thing I took Dramamine beforehand! We saw a tremendous number of dolphins but no whale. The captain indicated that he saw one or two whale water spouts, but I believe that was wishful thinking. Maybe some day I will try this again under calmer conditions. |
