Pacific Explorer Whale Watching Cruise
Sun, Sep 13  12:00 PM aldbarnes Unspecified 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I really enjoyed our experience! Whale watching was always something I wanted to do but never was able to afford the opportunity or had the financial means to do so. Having just received a clear report that I was cancer free, my beloved husband surprised me with this life long dream. To be able to see a humpback whale and her calf was amazing. The gentleman at the front desk was very professional and nice and our guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you for such a wonderful day. We learned every outing is new and we can't wait to come back and have another adventure.

The cruise was well worth it. We seen 2 humpback whales and 2 blue whales. The Captain was very informative regarding the whales. Something my family and I will remember for ever!

Was a foggy ride out of the bay but it cleared up and we saw multiple dolphins and two humpbacks. Nice crew and great info given on the tour. It was my first time whale watching and I enjoyed it very much. So from a first time visitor, I would recommend this company to anyone undecided.

Always fun to see...

There are so many variables with whale watching; the weather, the time of year for migrations, and remembering warm gear. We were happily surprised by the great weather, we were pleased we remembered our gloves and hats, and while we did see several whales at a distance, we wished we could have seen more, but it was early in the season.

Staff was helpful, boat was nice. There weren't whales out at first but our hosts stuck with it until we found some and it was well worth it. Highly recommended!

"Oh my gosh"

Two whales approached the boat and played with us for at least half an hour! I was recording the whole time. When we watched the videos after, you heard everyone saying "Oh my gosh!" over and over. It was an awesome experience.

Exactly what they promised

We saw humpback whales and spent quite a bit of time following a mama and her calf, who rewarded our efforts by breaching and hanging out at the surface. We also saw a pod of killer whales, albatross, and gulls feeding. During the trip were educated on the habits, challenges, and attributes of a number of marine species including sea lions, seals, and turtles. The trip was exactly as advertised, and the experience was a once-in-a-lifetime event. One of the reasons it will be once is that I found out I get really, really sea sick despite medication so I spent about half of the trip at the back of the boat while the action was in the front! While it diminished my enjoyment, the crew was terrific and my companion had no complaints about the trip (well, except that I was nowhere around!). We recommend this group highly, it was very well done and we couldn't have asked for anything more from the crew or the experience.

No whales. A few porpoises. Nice view of the Monterey shoreline. Better luck next time! Fairly expensive with no guarantees.

It's a big bay

It was looking like we were in for a very quite boat ride when at the last moment before turning back someone spotted a blue whale blowing quite close to the boat. I just saw it's final dive and its "footprints" in the water, we hung around for a while but the whale had other plans and didn't resurface anywhere near us. We were then honoured by an escort of a large group of dolphins back into the inner bay. I highly recommend this trip, even if you don't see anything, the anticipation and views of Monterey Bay are well worth it. Everybody involved were very friendly and very helpful.

Whale watching more like fog watching
Sun, Sep 27  12:00 PM Malarsky Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
A heavy fog was in the ocean the day we went out. We sailed right into it and saw nothing. Should be refunds prior to going out if the weather is questionable, but the attitude seemed to be like the old fishing guide after a day of not seeing any fish, the guide says " well they were really biting yesterday!!" I know it's buyer beware, but next time, we'll wait to make the reservation until the actual day of the event to make sure we maximize our weather chances. A real waste of $90.
