Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

Whale watching is a must do and what better way to get this experience then to go on the Princess. The Captain and Crew were excellant and Katherine was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and delightfull. My family loved the whole excursion. Thank you

We got to see 4 humpback whales and a couple of dolphins. We saw the whales at close quarters. The trip lasted a good 3 hours. A lot of people felt sea sick after 2 hours. I'm not sure if it was because the boat wasn't moving in order to see the whales. There was a decent tour guide who seemed to have a lot of information about the whales. Will use them again.

This was a great trip with a great crew who found whales right away and stayed with them for over two hours. Could not have asked for anything better.

We have been on your tour twice and both times we saw things the biologists described as once in a lifetime. We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend your services.

I went on a rainy day and thought I might be wasting my money but once we got out to sea it became sunny and beautiful. We did encounter 2 humpback whales and the crew made sure to linger long enough for us to really experience the watching of these two whales. The staff is very friendly and informed. The boat is clean and comfortable. The deck boss Monty was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Would go again with them in a heartbeat. Loved the experience.

We really enjoyed the activity, the boat is relatively large so sea-sickness was not an issue. We saw 2 hump backed whales and really enjoyed the whole trip. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this to anyone visiting the Monterey area. I did feel we spent a bit too much time in one place looking at the whales and thereafter didn't make any effort to look for more whales or dolphins.

While others were paying and getting tickets I only had to show my reservation copy and was on my way. Great crew and sailing. Had a good view of humpback whales. Restuarants abound with free samples. Parking will cost you unless you can find a shuttle or other drop off transportation. Enjoyed it!

Very disapppointed with the curtailled excursion. We took the 10am, which left late and got back at 11.30. And didn't get a refund. We were told it was too windy and goodbye. The 9.00 had just got back and they were extremely disatisfied also. Obviously if conditions were bad, the 10 am should have been cancelled..but hey that would have meant a refund..and clearly this was not going to be an option. We are just finishing a round the world trip and I can state that this was the most scandalous scam we've encountered through eleven countries and 32 cities. The Official Whalewatchers Tour across the pier rightly offers next time round guaranteed trips, which is the professional approach. It's not rocket science to take a boat out to see some big fish, and if it is it should be left to the professionals and certainly not these scam artists.

I join the tour on 23 May 10:00am, the trips last for 1.5hrs only, the most disappointing is that we cannot see any whale, and we can only see a group of dolphin. Luckly the dolphin is really special, as it is the first time i see wild dolphin on the sea, and the dolphin are white in color. We also see some sea lions, and a otter eating a crab, it is so amazing ^^ It is a bit expensive if we can only see some dolphin, sea lions and otter, but I understand that it depends on luck. I have been well prepare to get in the cruise, i wear two pants, hats, thick cloth, but still feel cold when I was on the cruise, I have taken sea-sick medicine, but I still feel dizzy. So please be well prepared ^-^ To sum up, it is a nice trip even we cannot see any whale, as the bay is really beautiful and we do enjoy it.

We went on the 9 am cruise and saw wonderful dophins right up close which was well worth the money to me but since the wind picked up and we couldn't get out to where the whales were they gave everyone a voucher to come back. This was much more than I expected...would highly recommend!!!

We saw one "very small" whale for a VERY short period of time and only at the end of our 2 1/2 hour trip. Our tour was at a time when whale season was at full peek; however, our small whale sighting was only after 2 hours of searching. I was extremely disappointed! I do not think the sighting of one small whale for a period of less than 10 minutes remotely constitutes the company guaranteeing we will see a whale (s). I feel that we should have been given a voucher to come back, but this was not offered to us. I can guarantee that not every passenger on the boat saw the whale as it was very small and did not surface much. I guess its hit or miss, however, I have many friends who advised us against our whale watching trip as they had never seen a whale on any of their trips, but we wanted to believe we would see whales so we went anyways. It was a total waste of money!

This cruise should not have taken place in these conditions. The seas were way too rough for an enjoyable experience. The naturalist was way over the top and was overly compensating for the lack of sightings and bad weather. The crew was unhelpful once the voyage began. People were ill on ship due to the weather and the crew offered no assistance whatsoever. I would not recommend this company.

after enduring over an hour of 7- to 10-foot swells, we searched for another hour or so and when the crew finally spotted a couple of humpback whales, we looked at them for about 5 minutes & then were informed that it was time to go back to port. Alas. a very expensive experience.

This was an awesome trip. We saw 2 kinds of dolphins, sealions, birds, and the absolute best was 2 humpback whales 15 feet from the boat. Together with the overenthusiastic guide, this trip was the best.

Our family vacationed along the California coast from San Francisco to San Diego. The whale watching trip in Monterey was one of the highlights of our week. We had a great tour and the marine animals cooperated wonderfully. We were very lucky in this regard. The trip guide was very informative and interesting and the company made the trip easy (check-in, boarding, etc). I would recommend this trip for others, but we were told that our experience was exceptional.
