Staff was courteous. Arrive early for free coffee and muffin! We saw minke, humpback and even orca! The narrator was great, very enthusiastic and informative. I highly recommend this trip. Even if you don't see any whales, Monterey Bay is beautiful and you will enjoy the ride!

Exceeded our expectation...Orcas were great!

Anticipating a whale or two, we were surprised to experience about a dozen on our outing. The three hours went pretty quick with two Minky Whales, 5 Humpbacks and a pod of 5 Orcas. Chasing the Orcas around trying to get a closer look was really great and our teenage boys really liked it. We were close enough to get some Whale's breath that is not very pleasant and would still like to get closer. A recommended trip and worth the while. We did the 10 a.m. cruise so be sure to layer up, high speed camera and some sunscreen will are all tips I could have used.

A Good Trip, but Seemed Short

I enjoyed the whale watching trip. We took the morning trip in June, and it definitely was a bit chilly on the water. Bring sweatshirts, and if you're prone to getting cold, maybe a coat or some light gloves might be good! Overall, the tour was informative and educational, but also fun. My only take would be that the actual time spent watching the marine life seemed a bit short. For a 2.5-3 hour trip, it seemed to fly by. It took about 20 minutes to depart the bay and reach the open sea, and another 20 minutes to return in. We did see some whales and dolphins, but by the time you snapped some photos and got to enjoy the animals, it was time to move to another spot or come back in. If you want a short trip to get a flavor for whale watching this is a good trip. It was my first time on the open sea and I enjoyed it. Next time, I will look for a longer trip, but I would definitely recommend this tour again.

Just wanted to say how much my wife and I enjoyed the activity. Small enough group on board that made the event more enjoyable. Enjoyed getting wet on the bow, the sights of the water and the whales and dolphins, and the captain was very knowledgeable with information. Would like to have been able to get closer to the whales to get better photos, perhaps on another trip. Highly recommend the event for anyone who loves the water.

It seems like a given that you will see whales or dolphins on this trip. Whale activity was more interesting on other trips I have been on in Hawaii or Province Town, Mass. That said, I am glad I went and would go again.

Nice boat. Nice people. Not a nice trip. Takes a long time to get out to the open ocean (about 45 minutes) . We got sick as did a lot of people. No whales. Just a pod of dolphins. Wouldn't do it again.

Freezing and NO Whales - but a great ride

They aren't kidding when they say wear winter clothes... it was freezing and it was June! I should have dug out the kids' winter hats and gloves. Very foggy - apparently that is common in the summer. Because of the fog it was difficult to see whale spouts, thus we couldn't find the whales.... big bummer! But we got a rain check, which was cool. And we saw dolphins and sea lions. Apparently the fog is common in summer months, and fall is a better time to see whales. Clean boat, easy check-in, and friendly staff!

Can't Wait to Go Again- We loved it

This was my hubby and my second trip on the Princess. We absolutely will do this again . We were thrilled to see Whales . It is so fabulous to see such beautiful creatures in their own habitat. It brought tears to my eyes to see such beauty and grace. We also saw a sunfish which was really cool. It was a little rough , the swells were pretty big but it was worth every roll and bounce. I do hope our next trip will be a little smoother. The crew are wonderful and know where to go for the best chance to see God's creatures. We enjoyed the seals and other marine animals. I love the pelicans and other sea birds. I hope to see Killer whales and the beautiful Blue Whales soon. Please ask for Kathryn she is the Marine Biologist that shares her knowledge while looking for whales. She is also quite funny and very nice. Kathryn has so much knowledge to share. We learned new things each trip so we can't wait to find out what other things she can teach us about the ecology of our earth and especially the Monterey Bay. Its a trip everyone should take, bring the kids its a very special experience. Donna & Bill Lueckfeld San Jose , Ca

Waves--Ocean Air--Whales
Fri, Jun 26, 09   10:00 AM edgewin61611 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
WOW...Excellent presentation, informative, and professional watercraft maneuvering by the Captain despite what felt like 6-8foot waves with whitecaps that day; a couple rogue waves safely worked around by reducing speed showed our small size despite the fact we were one of the larger vessels on the watch that morning. A couple of good breach presentation by a two separate pairs of humpbacks, numerous sightings and dorsal fin dives; plus a sun-fish sunning, loads of pelicans, sea lions, and other seabirds. Well worth the trip...especially enjoyed the dialog from KW...the biologist's commentary.
