We thoroughly enjoyed our whale watching trip. The naturalist was extremely knowledgable and gave us lots of info about the history of Monterey and area as well as lots of facts about the marine life. The whale sightings were fantastic, the dolphins were great and the orcas a real bonus. We obviously picked a good company and a good day to go out. Many thanks.

We would definitely recommend the whale watching tour. The price was very reasonable. Boat staff was very courteous and provided very useful information about whales. On our tour, we were able to see several blue whales, dolphins, seals, otters, and other fish.

20 Years of Whale Watching with This Company

We have been whale watching with this company for over 20 years. Captain Leon is great at finding animals to see but is always respectful of the marine creatures and will never do anything to bother them. He is also a master at handling the swells in any weather, and we've been out in some very rough weather! Benji and the staff on land are always pleasant and polite, ensuring everything runs smoothly. I got a personal phone call when our tour was rained out last winter. We go out with Princess Monterey cruises twice a year and wouldn't whale watch with any other company.

My wife and I went on the 2.5 hour whale watching cruise and enjoyed it alot. We saw several humpback whales and many dolphins. The tour guide was both informative and entertaining. We would have had some great pictures for the kids if our camera would have been working.

A fun girls weekend activity for us. Lucky to be rewarded with a fantastic show of humpbacks, dolphins and birds even in mid July. Very professional and friendly staff. Worth every penny!

Nice people, charismatic guide, beautiful boat. Compared to some of the other tour boats we saw heading out, this company is definitely one of the better ones. My only suggestion to anyone going whale watching is to have everyone in your group take dramamine!!! Even if you don't think you will need it, take it anyway. We all did and had a wonderful time, but there was a small group of various people who got seasick huddled in the back of the boat throwing up the entire time. When we got to the whales and dolphins, they were too sick to even stand up and look. Kids included. A simple pill a couple hours before your trip can make a huge difference!!

Trip of Lifetime!

We saw a 50 foot humpback whale and her calf. The mama came right to us and played around and under our boat. One member of our group was even sprayed with whale mucus. The whale froliced around our boat within arms reach for 15 to 20 minutes truely an amazing site of one of God's creatures! We also saw 3 types of dolphins and other marine life. The boat was clean and not crowded. The staff was great and the naturalist was informative and very funny. Take your dramamine and dress in layers with a hood.

Cetaceans & Seabirds Exceeded Expectations

It was eleventh hour but the trip delivered a whale - good views of a humpback! The views of dolphins especially riding the bow of the boat were awesome. I was along as much for the seabirds and would have gone with one of Debi Shearwater's pelagics if one had been operating during our visit. However, the captain displayed some expertise on identifying albatrosses and shearwaters, and i was more than pleased with excellent views of Black-footed Albatrosses and Pink-footed Shearwaters. Also saw 4 Cassin's Auklets & 2 Xantus's Murrelets but none of the petrels I was hoping for. I would recommend this trip for those withan all round interest rather than birders.

Whales, Dolphins...a Must See
The Pacific Explorer

Get out of town, get off land and join the Pacific Whale and Dolphin Ecotour for a wonderful view of life on the water.....dolphins follow the boat, seals swim by and all takes on a new viewpoint. Don't be discouraged if you don't see tons of whales...they seem to understand the recent fire problems in the air. You will be fortunate to have seen one. It's well worth the 4-5 hours.

A little overpriced for what you get

I had never been whale watching so I'm definitely glad I tried it. The guide was very good and enthusiastic but once on the boat it was very difficult to hear anything she said. There was not enough seating on the boat. We did get to see one whale it was pretty far away but saw allot of dolphins close up. Several people did get seasick and one person fell and hurt their ankle so if you tend to get seasick I would not recommend it and when they say dress warmly they are not kidding many layers and a hood would be recommended. Overall try it at least once.

Thoroughly enjoyable trip with whale/dolphin/sea lion/albatross sightings among others. Great 'show' from dolphins. Very knowledgable, and enthusiastic, guide contributed to outing. Have been disappointed in previous whale watching trips, this one delivered.
