Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

You could see the whales, from a long distance, and by the end I was kind of bored. Don't go if you get seasick, many people on our cruise were miserable by the end.

The trip was fun, the staff was knowledgeable, and we saw lots of whales!

It was a great tour. Our boat and some others went out at the same time riding parallel and saw some Killer Whales. Not long after spotting the whales the other boats turned back. We continued to search for the Killer Whales again and found them. They were a rare treat and our boat made it so we could enjoy it longer than the other boats. After the Killer Whales we found Hump Back Whales and other animals along the way. Another plus was that our boat was a lot larger than all of the others. The other boats were straight fishing boats and ours was more like a fairy type boat. Staff and crew were very caring and great!!! I didn't take a trip with any other boats, but just comparing it from what I saw, I wouldn't even try the other tours.

We spent five days in the Monterey area seeing the sites; walking the town, the Wharf and Cannery row and, while it was all a lot of fun, the Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise was the highlight of the trip. My wife had never seen the ocean so she was thrilled when just minutes out we ran in to dolphins, followed soon after by a jumping humpback whale. In all, we saw three humpbacks and several dolphins. The vessel was clean and well maintained and our biologist/naturalist was knowledgeable and very entertaining. We highly recommend the Princess Monterey to anyone considering a whale watching cruise and hope to get back out there soon - this time with the kids. Oh, and don't forget your Dramamine - it's entertaining watching the seasick people hang over the railing but I wouldn't want to be one of them!

My husband and I have been on whale-watching though this company and had a great time which brought us back to Monterey this past weekend. We looked forward to it all week and then the morning of the trip as we made our way from the SF bay area to Monterey, I got a migraine headache which made me sick and had to retreat to our hotel room for the day to sleep. We did make it to the pier later in the day and we already knew that the tickets were non-refundable so hopefully someday soon, we will make another trip to see the whales.

My family and I where on vacation from Oklahoma and excited to attend the whale watching tour. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The tour guide that we had was extremely knowledgable. We had a great time and would recommend your company to anyone. Thanks so much for a great experience!

I went on the whale watching trip with my 3 children 3, 7, and 10. We enjoyed it very much, except my 7 yr old had a bit of sea sickness. We didn't have very calm seas, but it was a nice trip anyway. We saw many whales, but they didn't do any 'tricks' for us that day. It was fun and a perfect length trip to give us all a taste of the whale watching experience. Any longer would not be great for kids that age. The boat was very large and comfortable with a good amount of indoor seating. It was quite cold with the outside wind so it helped to have an inside spot to take a rest. Nice to have snacks available for purchase as well. We had a relatively small group for the size of the boat so with kids that was a benefit. The only complaint I have (which I will attempt to resolve after I write this) is that I found out after being at my hotel a few days that they offer a $3 off discount per person for the whale trip. Overall the trip was very worthwhile and I'm glad I went.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised about how well this trip was organized. A friend had recommended this company as they have knowledgeable staff present during the whale watching. A graduate student in marine biology led our tour. She gave out great information and answered questions. We were very lucky that the whales were so active during our trip. The trip was great.

Hi. My parents and 2 nephews (15 & 9 years old) came out to visit me and we decided to take the whale watching cruise. It was a wonderful experience for all of us! I was hoping to see more than just Humpbacks, but they were wonderful none-the-less. I would highly reccommend this to anyone looking for something new and exciting to do.

This was our first trip to the Central Coast and this was also our first venture out into the bay. No fault of the crew, the swells were a little much for my 5 year old after the first 20 minutes or so. He did love it up until then. Beside that, the trip was wonderful. We saw 4 humpback whales and a jelly fish. Our naturalist guide was great! We learned an incredible amount of history of the area and the description of what we were experiencing out in the bay was top notch. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Bad service is the perfect way to describe Princess Monterey Whale Watching company. Bad service because this company only has one boat operator and when we arrived with our tickets in hand we were told by the "owner" Benji " sorry, but my only boat operator has the flu so we had to cancel your trip". If this company really cared about the satisfaction of their customers they would have a back up boat operator. Instead we were given no choice by Benji who sounded like this was common practice and told us to come in the next day for the cruise. Wow! It's amazing how the only boat operator with the flu made a full recover in less then 24 hours. So we return the next day ( paid another day's worth of parking ) and boarded the boat. On this company's website they state that ALL their boat narrators "have more then 10 years experience" as marine biologists. This is totally false because our female narrator could not have been more then 25 years old which means she was a marine biologist and or narrating when she was 15 years old! On the cruise she wasnt very informative at all. She spoke for no more then 30 minutes on our 3 hour tour ( maybe she also had the flu ). We witnessed ( 2 ) whale sightings ( just their tails ) and that lasted for only about 30 seconds. The rest of the cruise we saw ducks, ducks and more ducks. I would never use nor recommend this company ever again. Not because we didn't get a chance to see more then 30 seconds of whales but because of the poor customer service mentioned above.

We had a great trip. We saw a lot of whales and the weather was good!!! I recommend this to everybody who is in Monterey!!
