The weather was a bit foggy, but the whales do not care about the weather! After waiting for 1h45, we have seen some whales (humpback and grey if I have good memory). It was wonderful! The staff was great, even if you throw up on the boat!

So-so whale watching trip

The trip being 2.5 hours is a little too long. The whales were too far away that it wasn't exciting or fun at all. The most part we only saw little puffs of air they would blow out and occasionally a tail. Not really worth it. I'm glad we saw whales but it got boring real fast. Plus it was super cold!! I would never do it again.

Fantastic!

The water was very choppy, but the crew was beyond friendly, patrolling the boat to ensure everyone was alright. There were quite a few seasick individuals, the crew was great about helping them to the side of the boat. It was exciting to see the whales of course! Even when there weren't whales, a crew member was on the radio providing information of geographic locations and other sealife. Money well spent. I would have paid more.

Could be better

We took the Princess Monterey on a rainy day. Everyone on the ship got sick, including myself (first time I've ever been seasick.) The crew was very friendly and assisted everyone who got sick, and suggested moving to the outside of the boat, as the cool air and better view would help. The trip was cut a little short because it was impossible to tell whales apart from waves with the high winds. I would highly suggest waiting until you know what the weather will be like during your trip (as near as possible- I booked a month out and regret it. The next day was sunny and beautiful.)

Wonderfully successful whale watch

Most affordable, as well as most successful, whale watch I've been on. Saw several different types of cetaceans and was glad to hear the scientific commentary along the way. Had a great time!

It was a fun trip. The crew was knowledgeable and told us about all the whales, dolphins and birds we saw during our trip. Also, it was nice the boat had an indoor area to warm up in when it got too chilly outside.

Wale watching, Monterey

Went on this wale watching trip on a fine morning in Monterey, we were pre warned that the waters would be choppy. And choppy it was! Headed out to sea and was treated to lots of dolphins showing interest in our boat and swimming alongside which was fantastic. The whales however were teasing us, by popping up and disappearing again however we did catch a view of one doing a belly flop! Tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic as was othe staff on the boat, who were tending to sea sick passengers. I would recommend this trip!

This was our first time whale watching. It was a great experience. Staff was very knowledgable and happy to be there. Make sure you eat something and take medicine if you are unsure about your reaction to sea sickness. Overall, I would recommend it to everyone!

Saw 1 whale, 1 dolphin everyone was sick

The guide we had was very knowledgeable and fun. However we spent about half of our time waiting on one whale then we rode around the the other half of the trip looking for more. When we finally got to more whales the guide told us we had to leave and go back to port. Everyone on the boat was completly sick. Many people throw up because we were traveling very fast over the open sea. If you choose this company bring sea sick medicine and be prepared to tour the coast line more than view whales.

Fun experience...

This was my first experience on the ocean and the Princess Monterey was a wonderful trip. The captain of the boat was humorous, social and such fun to narrate the trip. My boyfriend and I saw some sea lions out and about and a few gray whales (though at quite a distant). We were a little disappointed that we barely saw whales and didn't see much of anything else but the experience alone of being on the ocean and pounding of the waves was awesome.
