marine biologist guides?

| the captain and tour guide, while certainly a salty character and seemingly experienced at his craft, did not seem to me to be a marine biologist but instead a man who has done this job many, many times and understands the sea, its creatures, etc. Seemed to me that me was going through the motions more than enthusiastically helping the group. It is a nice ship, comfortable, very pretty scenery but I don't know that these guys are as qualified as they represent themselves to be. | ||||||

| We went out on the Princess Monterey & were very impressed by the knowledge of the captain & crew. Their previous experience means they've got a very good idea of the best locations to look for whales. Their boats keep in contact, so if there's a sighting by one the other knows where to go. It was fairly rough when we went and the crew were very helpful with anyone who felt sick. We also felt complete confidence in the crew where safety was concerned. ...and best of all we saw 2 humpback whales together & it was absolutely fantastic. | ||||||

| Skipper was excellent, giving natural history info about not only the Humpback whales we watched, but about some of the birds as well, most notably the Black-footed albatrosses we saw. We all (4) had a wonderful trip and would most certainly do it again. | ||||||

| I really enjoyed the excursion. Everyone, from the people in the office to the crew on the boat were very helpful and friendly, and made the trip fun. The naturalist, Katherine, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and made the trip very interesting. On the way back into the harbor, she spent quite a bit of time with my friend and I, answering a bunch of questions for us and really making the time enjoyable. I would sail with her anytime! The crew chose to look for orcas, which was fantastic since I didn't know orcas visited Monterey Bay, and we found them! What an awesome trip. Thanks. | ||||||

| Sandwiched between Monterey's beautiful late fall weather the day we had scheduled our whale watching expedition was wet and windy with impressive ocean swells. Despite some hesitation we decided to persevere and we were glad we did. The crew did manage to find some humpback whales for us to view including a pair who gave us impressive "follow the leader" dives as we were headed back into harbor. Even in trying circumstances - it was cold and several people on the boat did not react well to the rolling of the ship in the waves - the entire staff on board remained cheerful, helpful and informative. This trip just whetted our appetite to return and sail with them again - on a nicer day! | ||||||

| Best whale watching trip ever! This is our first time out of Monterey and had the best time. Only downside was had to come back as time was up. :( We saw 2 humpback whales which came right up to the boat and stayed there for almost an hour! Also saw many white sided dolphin and many seals and sea lions. Great, knowledgeable crew, too. | ||||||

| Amazing tour, I would recommend to anyone visiting the Monterrey area. The captain handled the ship with more skill than I do my car! He was awesome and very knowledgeable about the Bay and it's inhabitants. This was our first whale watching tour and saw many dolphins and humpbacks, exceeding expectations. I hope to repeat this trip with you again next year! | ||||||

| Okay, I can only say fantastic. however, if you are motion sickness prone you might want something. we took zofran and had not one problem. It was amazing, dolphins, whales, jellyfish, seals and more. it was worth every penny. they have drinks and treats and the boat was comfortable and our captain was informative. just go and have a good time. | ||||||

| Wow how awesome it was to get so close to these wonderful creatures of God! We saw humpbacks, dolphins and porpoises throughout our trip. The weather was perfect as was the crew's hospitality. The narration about the wildlife was very imformative. Just being on in the middle of Monterey bay was a very peaceful experience. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants a closer look at God's creation! | ||||||

| So much fun!! The Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise was truly the highlight of our trip. We saw whales and dolphins and seals, and it was just majestic and wonderfully fun. The crew was attentive and knowledgeable and super-friendly. The extra touches really made the day, like loaner binoculars and free muffins and coffee. Thanks for a wonderful day! | ||||||

| The boys were involved in a fancy-schmancy golf tournament at Poppy Hills. So instead of being dumped onto the streets of Carmel to follow our genetically-determined instincts to shop, I booked this whale watching tour. Because, let's face it; girls just want to have fun! We had a wonderful time, no one puked, and the whales made an appearance, as expected. The boat was perfect, the staff was perfect, and the day, all in all, was perfect. We returned to The Wharf, pounded down some seafood and bloody marys, ate salt-water taffy. We will be attending a Holiday Wine & Cheese Party this Saturday night and i can't wait to tell the others about our "princess cruise". | ||||||

Monterey Sea Life

| The Monterey Bay is filled with life! On our 2 1/2 hour excursion we saw seals, sea lions, otters. a group of dolphins, two humpback whales, and some giant starfish! Quite exciting even for us beachgoers from Florida. The boat ride was just as expected. My only disappointment was the distance we had to keep away from the whales (100 yards). It's CA law. I would highly recommend binoculars or a good video camera that could capture them with the zoom. Overall, it was a great trip!!! | ||||||

| While other similar services provided a narrative throughout the cruise, this provider had trouble even identifying the type of dolphins we spotted. Also, be sure to take seasickness pills before any of these cruises if you have never been on the ocean in choppy water before. | ||||||
