Even out of season the crew managed to track down a humpback whale. We also saw lots of dolphins, sea otters etc. The person giving the commentary was very good.

Knowledgeable commentator on the boat; check the seasons and do this when whales are most likely to be seen, which is not every month.

Really enjoyed the trip, seen large pod of dolphins swiming alongside the boat which was a wonderful experience and did get to see a snipet of a whale with her calf. Really enjoyed the whole trip and its good value for money and would do it again.

modern boat with competent Crew. We have seen some Whales and Dolphins, so the Title "Whaletwatching" was right ;-) Other boats from other Companies were closer to the Animals, but i think this was only luckl!

Beware of weather

It was very foggy and cold on the boat but the crew where fantastic travelling further to make sure we saw a hump back whale. What was great was that they had a marine biologist on board doing the commentary. A very worth while trip

excellent tour, would highly recommend it

- the tour was excellent. The boat was very comfortable and had ample seating available (although there were about 20 or 30 people on the tour at the time). - we were very fortunate the day we went out as there was a whale sighted near the aquarium so we did not have to go far to find it, and we got to follow it for an hour. - the naturalist on the tour was quite knowledgeable about the biology of the Monterey Bay area as well as about the biology of whales. His presentation style was also excellent, and at one point in the tour, he shared some photos of whales that he had to further the educational experience

It was due to the weather & two humpback whales coming into the bay that we didn,t venture further out & see more.

Knowledgable staff and good boat

We saw loads of whales (humpbacks), close into the bay. This means that of the 3.5hrs we spent nearly 3hrs watching whales. If the whales are further out you spend more time travelling. Whales were very mpressive and the tour guide kept up a discrete commentary through out and pointed out other wild life.

Not clear commercial rules
Thu, Aug 30, 12   9:00 AM rgiacome Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Pay attention to commercial rules: the owner sell different ticket for the upper deck (20 usd more than standard price); the limitation it's not reported on ecom site. A suggestion: remember to have a checl-in at internal desk before to queue to board (to avood triple queue). A positive remark: the boats are larger than other companies proprosing the same tour: that's good if the sea is not completely calm No whales on our trip: only dolphins and some air breates.

The whales were hard to find on our tour, after a few hours we thought we would not get to see any, as the time was running out so thought we must be on way back. For the first 2 hours we did not receive any feedback or updates, I actually asked one of the crew members if we would be likely to see anything or if already on way back and he responded they hadn't given up and were still looking. Everyone was getting tired, some taking naps. However the tour was extended, as they heard news of a whale being sighted ahead. Suddenly the whole mood on the boat changed as everyone was looking out waiting to see the whale pop up. It was like an excitement rush running through the boat, as everyone had cameras out, all looking out waiting. During this time the girl started to give us facts about the whales and common sightings and unformed us that the whale can stay down for 10-15mins before having to come up for air again. When it did come back up, it was quite far ahead, so again the boat moved up closer and then it was another wait. Although the whale came up again further up, we still managed to see the tail flip of a humpback whale before going back under. We then could not wait for it to come back again, as the tour was already extended. Then on the way back, the girl came around the boat answering any questions and giving up lots more information. So although we would have loved to have gotten closer and seen a lot more of the whale, so glad we managed to see something and that was thanks to the crew going further and extending the trip to ensure we got that opportunity. Just a shame that the whales were hiding from us on that day! But I will never forget the mood change on the boat, the adrenalin and rush of excitement as we all waited with anticipation, making this a very memorable 2nd wedding anniversary!

Disappointing

I took my mother on this trip after I had been to L.A. and saw several humpback and blue whale just out the coast. A indescribable experience! And since the whales where easily found in LA, and the website of montereywhalewatching.com spoke of their experience in finding Whales, I thought that we would definitely see some whales. But after having paid $60 each (upperdeck admittance), the captain went looking for whales in the coastal fog instead at the submarine canyon in the clear. After 2,5 hours with nothing to see, the captain was informed by radio that a humpback whale was sighted at the submarine canyon by several boats. The other boats had a close look at the whale. So we hurried out to see it as well, result, sighting of 2 blows and a glimps of a tailvin, at a distance of 400yrds in front of the boat (so just a few people on board could get a glimps because there is not a lot of space at the front). There was no time to get closer to appr. 100yrds because we had to go back to the harbour! We already spent 3 hours on water! Very disappointing!!

A bit dissapointing

Probably nothing that Princess could have helped but even with over one hour extended cruise (3.45h) we only spotted one Humpback whale: we only saw the tail out of the water twice but over 1000ft away.
