Good, but more warning needed for some people
Sat, Apr 28, 07   4:00 PM jaufder Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We were able to see 2 Humpback whales on our cruise, which was great considering the lack of visibility. If I were to make any suggestions it would be that the operators of the cruise warn people that are about to board the ship of two things: 1/ Although it may be shorts and t-shirt weather on the wharf, miles out at sea it's probably a different story. People should be warned against their ignorance about this issue and they should be instructed to come again when they have a jacket. I saw some very cold and miserable people on the cruise. 2/ Guests were basically told that if they had to vomit to do it off the back of the boat. I think some basic instruction on how not to get sick in the first place might be warranted.....like, don't hang out in the cabin of the boat--stay on deck!! However, #1 above may have had something to do with why people were in the cabin. So, my review is really for other people--i myself did not get sick because I knew what to do, and what not to do. -jon

Thrilling and exciting experience

It was thrilling to watch huge whales go up and down the water, some times in pairs. 1 hr ride deep into the sea itself was very exciting.

It was and over cast day , the waters were fairly calm. Our trip had been cancelled the day before due to high winds and rougher waters, They rescheduled us to the following morning, nice and easy. So, we go out and get to see all the seals and sea lions up close . what was really cool was the randomly, floating, sleeping otter. Then we get a little farther out and we start seeing the spouting water and we get a little closer and their they are, beautiful, huge, big hump back Whales!!!!! We saw 20 or so that day, in pods of about 5 or 6. Picture perfect absolutely gorgeous. Hope to do it again someday, Thank You Also, The crew, the owner, and especially the commentater on the trip were all amazing and very informative. It was myself and my fifteen year old son on the trip and it was our hilite of Monterey. Annette and Dylan, Carbondale, Colorado.

One trip earlier in glouchester, ma and one in cabo san lucus. we were in for the weekend from st. louis and loved the area!

Our guide was awesome! She keep the group going even though it was raining. We were able to see many different types of sea life and she explained each of them. The crew were also caring and helpful and made the trip enjoyable.

From the start to the beginning it was great. The crew was nice and also helpful, the guide was informative and we got to see humpback whales, which was very exciting. I would have like to see more mammels. We had to go out 12 miles to see them, and the swells were pretty high.

Very fun, weather chopy!

April must not be the best time to go apparantly - the 10 am cruise on the way out was raining and the water was very choppy! However, the crew went out 1/2 hr. further just so we could get the Humpback spottings! Once there the weather cleared, the whales were visible and it was trully exciting. The marine bio was cool, and informative, the vessel was the biggest (of the other company's), which defenetly reassured my decision to stick with the Princess if we were to go again. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the sea-and could care less that we couldnt see any land around us when we were out 16 miles! Over all Very safe! I took motion sickness pills the night before and 1 hr before, which really helped-plus staying outside in the air helped as well yet my husband had tons of fun and never left the front of the boat!.

Wonderful whales - bad sea sickness
Sun, Apr 8, 07   4:00 PM Patricia8 Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Seeing the whales was fantastic, but was marred by the sea sickness caused by the extent of the swell and the distance required to get to where the whales were. I would also have liked to see other sea life and this was limited as the focus was all on the whales. Not everybody became sea-sick, but my husband and my youngest daughter did. It would have helped to have been given more detail of the state of the ocean at that time. If I went again I would definitely wait for the sea to be calmer, if I was able to do so. I would also probably go on my own, and find something else for the rest of the family to do.

Excellent trip!

We took this trip on Easter Sunday 2007. The crew are polite, helpful and extremely enthusiastic! We had quite a long trip out before we saw anything - in fact we thought we were going to have a 'wasted' trip, but then after about an hour saw Orcas and Humpback whales. The experience was fantastic! The children loved it, although the 4 year old found the outward journey a bit frustrating! Would definitley do it again if in the area!

Recently had a 2 week road trip around California. We all agreed this was the highlight event and one of the cheapest.

We saw two orca and four humpback - fabulous. What made it so good was Katherine's enthusiasm, expert knowledge, and continuing commentary. Thank you. Familie Thayer - the Netherlands

Would I do it again? well.......

We did not have a great experience. First of all we were put on a SMALL BOAT, not the one pictured or the one we saw others on. The advertisement said there were marine biologist on the tour there was not - we did not get any info about any thing such as where we were when we saw coast line, we did not see whales we only saw birds, when the captain did speak we could not understand him. It was cold and windy and with a small boat it's a rough ride. My daughter got sick and pucked the entire time - I would suggest picking up motion sickness medicine - and take 30 minutes before if you get on the boat. They ran out of hot cocoa right away so we froze, not much room on the inside of the boat to go in and warm up - plus with a small boat being inside made people sick. The employee working was very friendly and helpfull with my daughter. I do not believe I would do it again.

Cold, miserable, no whales
Sat, Apr 7, 07   4:00 PM jayc81 Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
We spent 3 1/2 hours, cold, wet, and sea sick and did not see any whales. We brought heavy jackets and took dramamine and still suffered. What a disappointment.
