The boat and crew were very pleasent and the expert they had on board was very enthusiatic and informative. We saw seals, otters, small Dolphins and lots of birds, however, we did not see much of the whales. There were only two whales plus one calf in the area when we went (August). I know the boat we were on could not control that but our boat always seemed to be the farthest away from the action. Our boat was by far the largest in the area but the smaller boats seemed to be able to get closer...Just something to think about! Oh, one more thing...Dress Warm and bring lots of parking money...Monterey really nickel and dimes you to death on the parking...Nothing is free in this town! |

In 2002 I visited Monterey Bay and went Whalewhatchning. The visit was work related. Now I went to Monterey together with my family - wife and two sons on 16 and 19 years. I would like to show them the Humbacks - it succeded. |

We had two sightings of two humpback whales. We saw about 8 tail flips. A great experience! And all of this in a 2.5 hour trip. |

If you have the opportunity to do this, take it. But, seriously, people... if you've never been out to sea before, take some DRAMAMINE! Half of the people on the boat were puking. Other than that, the experience was GREAT.
The captain was excellent and handled the swells very well. The deckhands were great also, being sure to take care of the people that were sick.
We saw about seven whales, and hundreds of dolphins.
Highly recommended.
But, I say again: If you've never been to sea (on a boat of this size), take Dramamine! You can give it to your kids, too. Small vessels are NOT like larger ships. |

it was a good trip and there was a lot of wildlife to see. However, I would recommend that if you do get sea sick/motion sick easily that you do not eat much before hand and take something for it. If you don't, the trip will only end up you being over the siderail looking at the back of the boat for most of the trip. All in all I do recommend this trip, it was very exciting and memorable! |

Good:
- Saw whales and a dolphin
- my 76-year old mom could walk directly onto the boat (after the stairs).
No rail to step over.
- friendly crew
Warnings:
- ride out was a little rough.

Well I got sick but that much I already expected could happen.
We were supposed to be going all the way out to some sort of gulley in the ocean and look for all sorts of whales but once we saw one whale out and they followed the same whale for the whole time. Got pretty borring watching the same whale come up every 7-10 minutes going into shore. |

We wanted to see blue whales and on the schedule they had both blue whales and humpback whales. We ended up seeing humpbacks only and we spent 1 hour getting to them 15 minutes watching them and 1 hour back to the dock.
We could have done the same thing driving to Moss Landing ourselves and not had to deal with my wife being sea-sick. The boat and crew were excellent. I would go again but my wife says it will be by myself?? IF I go I would likely not book in advance I would prefer to ask questions about plan of which type of whale we are going to look at. |

we went on a cruise on 24th july and the weather was horrible. there were another boats and they were closer than us. We´ve seen tales of wales about 40 to 50 meters away. it was expensive for what we´ve seen. Anyway the boat was good (the best of those we saw) and the biologist was pretty nice.
Best regards |

Biggest complaint was tardiness. As we checked in, we were told that we would be boarding @ 9:45AM. The narrator/guide did not show up until 10AM and then went into a little overly dramatic welcome and little too lengthy orientation about the event.
This would have not been so bad if she had been on-time! No staff came out to apologize or to tell everyone that you were running behind. I heard two other parties, standing near us, comment on the tardiness of your staff also. The other thing was that other whale-watching boats that were out there got much closer to the whales than we did, which was a little disheartening. No explanation was given (that I recall) why we could not get a bit closer as there were several whale sightings!
These are my only complaints. Other than these, I enjoyed the event. |

The staff was very nice and helpful as well as knowledgable. The boat was very clean and in good shape. Safety info was given before boarding as well as after. My wife and I were very pleased with the trip. |
