Tourist oriented "whale watching"

This is a tacky tourist oriented program that includes a naturalist/cheer leader who gets into your face insisting that you agree that you are having a great time, makes endless stupid jokes about "getting some tail" (whale flukes, folks), intersperses her rare naturalist commentary with endless anthropomorphizing (calling the female of any species "the ladies") while the captain shifts the boat around looking for ANYTHING to show the paid passengers, of whom there were far too many. Don't believe the hype about the boat...it is much smaller than it appears in the online photos, has next to nothing in the snack bar, and doesn't allow passengers on the upper deck. Check into other programs and talk to the naturalist if you can before buying tickets. Wish I had; this young woman belongs in Las Vegas, not on a whale watching boat. Oh, and yes, we did see 2 humpback whales and one seal, but sure glad I brought my binoculars so I could see them. If I had brought ear plugs I would have been spared the 'naturalists' mind numbing screams and whoops. |

The crew was skilled and courteous, and the naturalist on board was very knowledgeable. We saw several humpbacks. It was a great way to spend a morning. |

Everyone was helpful from start to finish. The introductory information was especially helpful since "land lovers" rarely know know the difference between starboard and portside so using the movement of the clock for identifying whale locations was ideal. The marine biologist was pleasant , approachable, and very knowledgeable. It was more than exciting to see so many whales in all their majesty and much of it would have been lost had the biologists narration about what we were seeing and how it all came to be had not been provided. We had a varied group on board from a sixth grade graduation party group to those in their 60's and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the information imparted met the needs of all the age groups. The ship was clean from top to bottom the crew professional and helpful I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone seeking a true whale watching experience, you can't explain the excitement of seeing a hump back whale breeching FABULOUS. |

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Monterey for the first time or for someone just out to see nature in it's awesome slendor! We saw 7 humpback whales! The biologist who was our guide did a wonderful job and answered all of the passengers questions with enthusiasm - you could tell she really enjoyed her career! She was the most enthusiastic guide we have ever encountered on a guided tour. A wonderful adventure! |

The cruise was pleasant and we saw grey whales migrating north plus a school of approx. 200 common dolphin. The narration was good, the boat very comfortable (inside and out), and the crew got us to where the whales were. Well done! |
