Boring at first while your motoring around to find them. Took about 2 hrs to find them but man was it worth it. Beautiful creatures. |

I would recommend Princess Monterey for whale watching.
Now no-one can guarantee you see any nature, that's is nature itself and part of the excitement. However go with the right company and you'll have a better chance. At the pier before even getting on the boat we saw a Sea Otter with its cub eating a small octopus and swimming, also saw a great seal and lots of sea lions. The boat was a good size and we paid an extra $20 ech to go on the top deck which gives you a 360 view and access to the sea to see everything. There was a biologist or something narrating on board about the wildlife and was very knowledgable and answered any questions even if she was over excited all the time, but hey I would be doing her job. We were lucky enough to find a large Humpback Whale which was feeding on the Krill, we followed it for about an hour watching it swim and dive like they do on nature program's with th tails coming up out of the water. It iced and appeared really close to th boat which was awesome. The captain was great t keeping the distance hn he could so not to disturb her but they are inquisitive mammals so tend to come close to the boat. Go for it, even if you don't see anything it's a great tip out in the ocean :) |

We had a great time this is our second trip on the Princess. The crew on board was wonderful again we got a chance to see 4 Humpback whales this time. We were hoping to see Orcas but we were not able to see any. I recommend this boat trip to anyone who wants to go and see the whales. |

Second time on this tour, last time was 18 months ago. This provider appears to have larger boats than the other companies; it is much more comfortable to sit inside as you go out to and return from the whale watching site. The guide provided more information than just "there is one at 3 o'clock." I was able to get many great images, thanks to the whales being curious and wanting to stay close to the boat. |

saw a pod of 4 Orcas, also some porpoises on the way back into harbor. We had a lucky day, and NOBODY on the entire boat got sick!!!! Was very cold on the ocean, this in late April when most of California was 80 F.
Clean boat, nice sized (100feet) |

It is better to prepare a windbreaker or warm swrater. The sun of California is very strong and you are very easy to be sun burn. |

Wife had waited many years to have the chance of seeing whales in their natural environment and wasn't disappointed. The trip out of the bay allowed us to view sealions on nearly all available hauling out spots and sea otters floating on their backs complete with sea gulls standing on their chests !!!
Only one humpback surfaced but it was extremely close up and well worth the fee to see it. The boat was extremely smooth with adequate facilities and we would highly recommend paying the additional fee for entrance to the top deck of the boat.
All the staff were very friendly and knowledgable, Monterey Bay is as excellent location with a huge variation of wildlife both on and offshore and plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. |
