We Were WOWED by the Whales
Sat, Aug 8, 09   10:00 AM KenNichols Male 60-69 Combination Family With Children
My two sons and their wives and two grandchildren had a wonderful day on the Princess Monterey. We saw several(18-20) Hump Back Whales, several species of Dolphins, a LARGE turtle and many sea lions on our trip out and into the harbor. It was cool and several people were a bit nauseous. But we all agreed it was a great day not with standing.

A whale of a good time!

Our family took the whale watching trip while touring in Monterey one weekend. We had a great time. We saw lots of dolphins which was great fun. The crew did a great job trying to make everyone feel comfortable. There was a marine biologist on board who gave us lots of interesting information about sea life, the mammals we would be seeing, Monterey etc. We had to travel pretty far out to finally see the Humpback whales. I had imagined that we would see the whole whale, but we did see the tale come out of the water, the spout and definitely got a feeling for how large these mammals are. HUGE. It was worth the trip and I would highly recommend that people do this. NOTE: I also recommend that people take a motion sickness pill in advance as it will make your journey so much more comfortable. If you have any doubt, take the pill. Many people on the boat were unsettled by the swells and the motion and thus had to sit or lie down a lot of the time. My kids faired well on the boat but at one point they were very queasy and had to sit in the back for awhile before they could get up and walk around again. The feeling came and went fairly quickly. But if you can avoid it, do. Because you could easily miss the best parts if you are not feeling well.

Perfect Day to go Whale Watching
Sat, Aug 8, 09   10:00 AM yleung Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I absolutely enjoyed the whole experience!!! For my birthday, I decided to go whale watching for the first time. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to see that much. Who would of thought I chose the perfect day to go out into the bay. Our group saw close to 100 dolphins and 30-50 humpback whales throughout the whole trip! What made the trip even better was that we even saw a Leatherback turtle! We were told this was a really rare sighting and we got to experience it! Thank you Princess Monterey for such a special day!

I probably expected to see whales breaching like those seen on TV. But we did see whales come to the surface and that was exciting, even though. It was a pleasant trip and my family had a great time.

Wow, what a great adventure. We saw more than I have ever seen on a whale watch trip. The bay is beautiful, the ship hands were so nice, and the Narrator was fantastic. She is lively, and has a passion for what she does, and for the animals. I highly reccommend this trip to anyone!!

Great day on the Monterey Bay

We took the 1:30 cruise on Wednesday, 8/5. We had a great time, saw 6-7 humpback whales and several dolphins. The crew and boat were fabulous. I can't say enough of this trip, and wish we had done it years ago. It's an incredible value, and booking it on line as we did was very easy; a complete hassle-free trip. It's the perfect trip to take out of town guests on.

We went in the morning which was good. We all needed jackets. The tour director was ausome. She was very informative and enthusiastic. It was so much fun to be on this company's boat ride. The 2.5 hrs was just enough. We saw dolphins, porpoises, humback whale and calf, and a blue whale with calf. They say its special to see the blue whale and humbacks are out there all the time.

Interesting but a bit far away to get the rush!

loved the guide, think she did a great job of keeping it interesting and fun. the boat was very comfy too and plenty of space to relax , snack and watch. when we spotted whales and dolphins: we saw humpbacks, blue whale and dolphins, it was just a bit too far from them to get really excited. Realize that the ship might have to keep a certain distance but it seems other ships in the area were able to get closer, maybe because of the big size of our boat "the princess of monterey" so size might matter afterall in monterey! overall a good experience matching with the area and our trip ! will i do it again ? probably not.... thanks though... find it hard to complain too much when you get a swift look from about 300 feet of the largest mammal in the world...
