Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

Saw 4-8 blue whales, a few humpbacks, some Risso's dolphins, and a basking shark. Two blue whales came close to the boat, it was very exciting. :)

The boat ride is a view from the inner monterey bay to about 2 miles out. Try to watch weather forcasts and news for best conditions. Always take what is recommended for the trip. Extra warm clothing, rain jackets, gloves, hats, cameras and sunscreen. Binoculars are important because of the distance you can start seeing whales. the whales and dolfin are not coming up to the boat to say hi. If you need all the equipment is available for a price at the sign in shop, the money is donated, My wife and I have taken the trip twice and I would like to go again or get a job on the boat. Everyone on the boat was friendly and courtious. The children on the boat were frustrated because they did not have binoculars.

We got there early because we wanted to get a good place on the boat. We were probably 6 or 8 in line. When you guys opened the gate people started cutting in and there was no line control which we found dissappointing. We had driven 2 1/2 hours to be there, we even took the day off of work. Before everyone started cutting in line though you guys let some actor from some saop opera on first. Whatever. We did actually get to the front of the boat so no harm done. Once we were underway and started seeing whales spouting and stuff it was real fun. But for some reason the whales were only on the right side of the boat, we were on the left. The Captain kept turning the boat to the right side. I felt real bad for the people who were on the left side but not in front because they litterally saw NOTHING. We could at least see a little. You know who was on the front right of the boat? The soap actor that's who, you guys completely catered to that guy. I paid almost $90 for the ride. I sure hope he paid more because he sure got a better ride than anyone else. Catherine was fantastic however and actually "sensed" something may have been wrong with our side of the boat and came over and chatted and edgucated us on the whales we had seen. Her happy, enthusiastic attitude was contagous.

we had a great time it was a perfect day the crew was wonderful the whales cooperated the ship was beautiful... will do this again.

Kathryn was a fabulous tour guide- so exuberant and knowledgeable. We purposely requested her tour because she was fabulous a few months earlier. Saw lots of blue and humpback whales and Pacific white dolphins. Only downfall was that our 10am tour was very crowded. We were packed like sardines! We were told that the water is calmer earlier and the whales are more active so chose the earlier trip. However, as we were disembarking, the 1:00 tour seemed to have only about 30 people. Wonder if that might have been a wiser choice for comfort and accessibility to both sides of the ship especially since one of our group was disabled?

The weather was very nice and the trip was good. Boarded late by 15 minutes though. Their PA system is pretty bad -- you can hardly hear anyone. Would like to have been closer to the whales like other whale watch boats were doing. I know you need to respect the animals and keep some distance but they stayed a little too far away !

I meant to write this review the day I came home from my trip, but anyhow here I'am writing it a week later. I can;t express how much fun we had on our Whale Watching trip with these guys. The Biologist on board has ALOTTTT of energy and you can tell she loves her job. I was hesitant about going out because I usually get seasick, but the water at 9am wasn't bad at all. I took a dramamine the night before my trip then 1 more an hr before we departed and I really didn't think I even needed it as it was a great day. We seen over 15 whales and I was so amazed at the size of these guys!!!! Dolphins swimming along boat was awesome.....The humpbacks were just truly remarkable, but to see (2) Whales swimming along side each other from a close distance was just something for everyone to see. Don't hesitate to book your trip with these guys as RIGHT NOW is the best time to see Whales!!!! Thanks so much.... Jeffery Soares Soares Masonry, Inc

Oh My Gosh, this trip was AMAZING!! The guide, Katherine, was INCREDIBLE! She is very knowledgable, and SO enthusiastic! The information was great, we saw 3 different types of whales 3 different types of dilphins This is a MUST DO trip!!

The boat,was safe and clean, the staff (crew) was very knowlegeable and provided great information ( they should all get a raise) This is the best whale watching I ever had in this lifetime !!! We go to Cabo every Xmas and see many whales up close This beats that by 500% Go and enjoy nature with this company and book on line with Zerve for piece of mind and security, no I don't work for them I'm just an honest hard working guy who had a fabulos day with my wife, lunch later at the Chart house on the water was great too !! GO WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE this is a staycation of the best quality !!

Over all it was a good first whale watching experience. The guide was a marine biologist and she provided detailed and very interesting information about marine life and the species we got to see on the tour. Five stars for her!!! My only complaint is that the boat was crowded and it was difficult to see the animals because of all the people rushing to the left or to the right side of the boat. Next time I'll definitely pick a much smaller boat.
