Very professional, good to know how the recent, previous trips had gone. the sightings were awesome. Crew kept the ship pretty steady and safety was a key concern and we appreciated that. The marine biologist was knowledgeable and amusing, although the sound system wasn't great.

Our friends from Germany wanted to see whales. They were not disappointed! We saw tons of whales. The staff was great: friendly, and clearly love what they are doing, which makes the trip filled with enthusiasm. The boat was clean and comfortable. It was a larger boat, which was great because our friend has a tendency toward sea sickness, and was a bit nervous about the idea of a smaller boat. The inside seating and tables were great when it got a bit chilly. Definitely recommend the activity and this particular vessel.

Our family enjoyed this activity as the weather was perfect. The 2 to 2.5 hours was thouroughly active as the whales were feeding and there were many dolphins. We saw both blue and humpback whales. At one time, they came very close to the boat. Because there was a lot of animal activity, we basically stayed in one area and did not have to go looking for the whales. My daughter, 6 years old, stayed on the deck railing the whole time amazed at the whales. She was just taking in everything that was going on with the whales and the dolphins. The naturalist was very knowledgeable and at times funny. In all, it was a very good day for whale watching as everything came together with good weather. I would recommend going on the early cruise as the ocean tides are calm. Hopefully, others will get the same experience.

The trip started on time and we had seen many whale activites (atleast 25 to 35) and hundreds of dolphins and sea lions. This was our first whale watch expedition and each one of us enjoyed. The boat crew was extermely friendly and helpful. They stopped very close to the whales (as much as 20-25 feet). I would very much recommend this company to those who are interested whalewatch in Monterey. Good job Princess crews.....

We got the fairly standard "you should have been here yesterday" story before boarding, but our excursion was more than adequate. There were numerous Blue and Humpback whales for us to see including a couple of juvenile Humpbacks that were hanging out on the surface while the adults were lunge feeding. The boat crew was very friendly and attentive to the needs of the guests. I'd recommend this boat to anyone and will definitely choose this boat again the next time we're in Monterey.

Great experience but crowded boat

We chose the largest boat that usually does whale watching cruises because of the added stability in potentially choppy sea. In the event the ocean was like a mill pond and we need not have worried. The crew were very helpful and knowledgeable, taking us straight to a pod of blue whales that were feeding and describing where to look. However the skipper decided to always manoeuvre to put the same side of the boat to the whales, so those of us that had positioned ourselves on the other side were forced to always look over the shoulders of everyone else on the boat. This was OK at first but became increasingly annoying as the boat felt crowded and people were not inclined to move away from their hard won viewing spots. There were loads of whales to see, both blues and humpbacks, and this was fantastic, although how it would have been on a foggy or rough day I would not like to guess.

Excellent Whale Watching Trip

We spent 3 hours on the Pacific Princess roving Monterrey Bay. The weather was perfect. We saw 12-20 different Grey and Humpback whales. The crew did a great job of directing everyone's attention to where to look for the whales. At one point a couple of whales passed within a few feet of the boat. The boat was fine although it was pretty crowded due to the out of season presence of whales in Monterrey Bay. July 2010.

Our group was us a local family and a visitor from Europe. We chose Princess Monterey based on strong recommendations from local Monterey dive boat captains. The check-in inside their small office on Fishermans Wharf was fast and friendly; crew was helpful and friendly as well. The boat was large and stable, relatively fast and low on noise and vibration (compared to similar boats of course, this is not a cruise ship). The cabin area was spotlessly clean even on an afternoon trip. Of the three whale watching operators I've tried in Monterey this was clearly superior to others. Actual whale sightings are of course subject to seasons, conditions and luck. On our trip mid-July the action was completely off the chart: over a dozen massive blue whales, some approaching us within smelling distance as they were feeding; a humpback that chose to people-watch approaching us literally within inches spyhopping, scooting the huge fins right next to the railing, hovering upside down right under our boat, etc. This went on for close to an hour with us just floating there, until sadly it was time to head back in. Highly recommend.

I went whale watching with your company on Monday July 12. IT WAS WONDERFUL because the whales came right UP TO THE BOAT. There were numerous groups of whales and they kept coming back. Your organization is fantastic. thank you
