No Whales to Watch

We took our trip on 2/22/09 and did not see any whales at all. Alot of money to see the seals that could have been seen from the dock. I realize that the company has no control over mother nature but maybe they could tell you when it's not a good season for whale watching.

One of the items on my "bucket list" was to go whale watching. This cruise fulfilled that goal but, now, I will have to go again. Our on -board guide, Kathleen, was so energetic and informative that I will have to go again to see other whales. It was a bit nippy (as expected) but not too rough and we did see some whales. I, of course, would have liked to see more and at a closer view, but maybe next time. The boat was neat and tidy, the online registration was easy, the check-in was simple. The event was on time. The crew did a great job with the passengers that suffered from seasickness. And, as I said, Kathleen was great. Thanks for the experience. See you again when other whales are running!

Good size boat for heading out to sea

Both my husband and I are prone to sea-sickness . The combination of the larger boat and patches from our doctor provided a very enjoyable boat ride. The Marine Biologist on the boat was very entertaining and informative. We were able to see Gray Whales. I have lived in CA for 10 years and now that I found this Tour company I'm looking forward to the humpbacks in the summer.

Whale Watching recommended

Our excursion was in the third week of February which is not the best time to see whales and we were seriously wondering if we would catch a glimpse of any. After getting out to the ocean we encountered a pod of dolphins. There had to be 100 or more jumping and playing so close to the boat that you felt you could reach out and touch them. We were happy just to see that. We were never bored though, the guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgable that time just flew by. We ended up seeing nine whales that day, what a beautiful, amazing sight to behold, these enormous creatures of the sea. Catching sight of a whale surfacing and seeing the geyser from the blowhole is pretty awesome. The weather was cold but the cabin was really warm if you chose to be inside (you could still see out the huge windows and see everything outside). We chose to be outside the entire time so did not use the bathrooms or visit the "snack bar". The guide made the kids feel very welcome, including them in jokes and taking all the questions anyone would ask. She was so cheery it was catchy, it was impossible not to have a good time. We would definitely do it again, maybe pick a different time of year to see more sealife but seeing sea lions, jellyfish, otters, dolphins and whales was quite a bit for two hours.

This trip was extremely fun and enjoyable. The boat provided snacks and bathrooms if needed. They also provide a great amount of information. Information on the whales and what to do if you got seasick.

Exciting Adventure

It was a beautiful, sunny day with very little chop to the water. Half of the sailing was looking for whales. On the way back to the dock whales were spotted and we spent several minutes watching them from quite a distance. There were 3 or 4 in the pod. After seeing Humpback Whales many times in Hawaii we were hoping to get closer but did not. Also, they didn't breach very high or fluke before diving. All in all, we enjoyed the adventure. The boat ride was great and we were happy for a day that was sunny after several days of rain.

If it wasn't for the choppy water that created roller-coaster effect; it would've been a waste of time.

Great Experience

Although the weather forecast was a little sketchy - it was not too bad. We were prepared with hats, gloves, ponchos/raincoats, warm shoes, and layered clothing. I had not expected to actually spot whales rather predicted we would see dolphins but ended up seeing grey whales and observing for ~45 minutes. It was amazing! The crew was great and provided excellent background information regarding the migration patterns and unique characteristics for each variety of whale. Definitey worth the trip if you enjoy being on the water.

It was a sham ... there were no whales at all. They should deliver if they are going to advertise.

The staff on this trip were amazing. They repeatedly made sure everyone was having a good time. The narrator gave detailed information about the whales and other marine life we saw. We plan to go again during high migrating season to see more of these majestic animals.
