Seeing hump back whales come to the surface, arch the back and dive down under the water is a spectacular sight

Great experience

Highly recommend this tour! The seas were rough with 5-8ft swells but the crew made us as comfortable as possible. Saw whales the entire time!! Don't miss this experience!

Impressive Customer Service

Even though we were out over 2 1/2 hours zooming all around, sadly we did not see one whale, dolphin, etc. only jellyfish :(. We were amazed that even though they had no responsibility to do so they offered everyone an open ended ticket to come back at any time for another trip. We will definitely recommend the Princess Monterey team to others.

Too long, too cold, and no whales!!

My husband and I thought we'd take our two grandsons (ages 10 and 13) who were visiting from Utah, on an ocean adventure that would be memorable. Within 30 minutes of departure, the oldest boy got sea-sick and threw up. Things seemed to go downhill from then on - the water was extra choppy, it was cold and windy, and several other passengers were getting sick all around us. We could tell our grandsons were really not enjoying this at all - and I wasn't either. It seemed we were never going to get back to shore - just way too long of a trip, not to mention that there was only a partial-sighting of a dolphin - not one whale!! Was very disappointing for all of us. Don't know if I would ever go back - not in love with whales THAT much!

Buy your tickets at the gate and check the weather

The day we went it was great weather all the way until we actually got to Monterey Bay. It was windy and cold and the water had 4-5 foot seas. This made for a very unpleasant trip for some seasick passengers, including my wife. The staff will tell you that high seas make no difference to the whales (which is true) but the skipper can't see their spouts over the waves. If you can't see their spouts, you can't follow them. We did see one big Orca, which was great, but not really worth the trip and the seasickness was terrible. Thankfully I took Dramamine before I got there. We bought our tickets in advance. If you buy them this way, they are non-refundable and you cannot reschedule either. I would recommend buying your tickets on online the day you leave since you never know what the weather will be like in advance.

Review of whale watch tour on 14 August 2011

The tour left on time. The tour guide was knowledgeable and it did not take very long. No whales were sighted but we did get a "rain check" to come back and try again - good forever

We don`t see whales

A frustrated trip. Cold, sickness and no whales, no dolphins,... The only good thing was that the company gave us another ticked for other day if we could go. People who were really sickness donīt want to return. Perhaps the next time we were lucky.

Tough on kids

Took 9:00 cruise. Three hours of cold wind and no whale on site, were very tough on adults, as well on boys. Might have been better if it were "no whale but warm weather."

the trip was kind of long and painful for lots of people, because of the sea, and we could only see a blue whale's blow, from the distance, 3 times, it it not a lot. Staff was really nice, but we were disappointed
