Unfortunately we rushed to get to our 3:30 tour and we were driving from San Fran and no one could get a hold of us, and our tour was cancelled due to weather. This changed our plans, but the ship was very accommodating for the next morning 9:30 a.m. cruise. We only saw one whale--three times--but it was still a great time! |

It was very foggy and cold on the boat but the crew where fantastic travelling further to make sure we saw a hump back whale. What was great was that they had a marine biologist on board doing the commentary. A very worth while trip |

- the tour was excellent. The boat was very comfortable and had ample seating available (although there were about 20 or 30 people on the tour at the time).
- we were very fortunate the day we went out as there was a whale sighted near the aquarium so we did not have to go far to find it, and we got to follow it for an hour.
- the naturalist on the tour was quite knowledgeable about the biology of the Monterey Bay area as well as about the biology of whales. His presentation style was also excellent, and at one point in the tour, he shared some photos of whales that he had to further the educational experience |

My husband and I were so excited that we finally got to go whale watching. We paid the extra $20 per person for the top deck so we could have a better view. ONce we got away from the dock we were engulfed in a grey fog where the grey water met the grey sky. We saw several birds, some sea urchens floating below the surface and a small lump a distance away from theboat that we were told was a possible sea lion. The boat rocked for several hours while one couple fell asleep and my husband continued to use several vomit bags while standing away from everyone. The two hour cruise was now pat three hours and the guide said they got word of hump back whales a short distance away. As we approached the area several other boats where floating in a small area. We all ran to the rail, except my husband who was still in the corner with a fresh bag. We saw a mist of water from one of the two whales blow holes a distance away. Then we saw the back of two whales just break the surface next to another in the distance. It was hard to see grey whales in a grey ocean with little light from a grey sky. I snaped a picture and you guessed it , it was a blob of grey. They were quite a distance away. That was it! The guide said we stayed out longer then scheduled because they had heard from other boats in the area that they might have spotted a whale. As we pulled into the dock area it was sunny with gulls, pelicans, seals, a veritable zoo was there. Cold and wet from the fog we met my sister and her husband who took us to get hot soup for lunch. We sat by a large window in the restaurant and watched the wonderful lives of people and wildlife sharing the sun and fun on the dock. Maybe some sunny day we will adventure to try again. |

The boat was nice and we saw many Humpback whales without leaving the bay. The naturalist provided interesting and useful information. The whales were difficult to photograph but we enjoyed watching them. |

We went on our whale watching adventure in early September. The morning was a bit gray and chilly as we motored out to find the whales. We were not disappointed when the Captain spotted two humpbacks coming up for air about a half hour into our journey. Eventually we were delighted when the two surfaced just 50 feet or so off the starboard bow. It was great to see them up close. As we motored back, after spending about an hour waiting for and watching them, the clouds broke, and blue skies were beautiful. Staff were very friendly and safety conscious. The boat was clean and well maintained. I felt safe. A little cold, but safe. Bring a sweatshirt! |
