My sister and I get away every year to enjoy ourselves without any children, husbands or work issues. Its part of our lifes journey before we get too old to remember one another or aren't able to actually get around. This trip is a celebration of life and love between sisters. There are only 2 of us left out of 4.
This boat ride was such an awesome part of our trip. We were hoping to be able to experience the wonders of the sea, however never did we expect to catch all of the wonderful sightings.
On our way out there we were just sitting and enjoying the beauty of the ocean and all of the seals and birds. When we were surprised by a group of dolphins swimming along side of the boat and flipping up out of the water. It was almost as if they were playing with us. They would jump way up and dive and leap. Oh we were just giggling like a couple of little girls. It was exciting. And it lasted for some time. The captain stopped the boat so that we could just watch them and take our pictures.
After a while we were back at watching the ocean, and keeping our eyes perked for the large spout. We were informed that the other tour company had spotted 3 killer whales. So we took off towards the direction of the killer whales and to our surprise there they were, three of them to be exact. And a baby one as well. It was breathless. To be so close and to see such life. Again of course we got the giggles from the excitement. The captain once again stayed close enough for our pictures and to just watch in awe.
I would most certainly recommend this trip to anyone who loves nature, animals or just life itself. We were welcomed and cared for in the most professional manner. I did take their advise and dress in layers, as it was warm and sunny on the beach, however a bit chilly further out. My advise would be to read all of the online literate and use the information well. Some didn't dress so warm and choose to stay inside while all of us were outside watching and giggling like little kids. We are going to go again next next. Thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Your tour was awesome!! |

This was something that I really wanted to do. Being from the North Pacific Coast I have opportunities to whale watch in my home town in British Columbia. My husband was bored for most of the time as we only saw the whales for a short period of time. I think that the boat should be equipped with sonar so we don't spend more than half the time guessing where they will surface after they have gone down to dive. We spent more time chasing than watching, although the very few minutes we did see them, I was moved by it because for me, a huge whale enthusiast, it was beautiful. I would go again if they updated their equipment and perhaps had a knowlegeable biologist on board.
Thank you

We hopped aboard the Princess the first trip of the day (10 AM). Plenty of room on board to move around and enjoy the scenery. The weather was great. When the boat arrived at the Moss Landing area, there was a report of an Orca so we waited patiently to see it. All the other whale watching boats in the same area communicate to one another if they spot whales so it benefits all of us. The Orca gave us the slip I suppose....but we watched for others.
No whales on our trip but great commentary from the docent/naturalist aboard. Learned everything from history of the Monterey Bay and Cannery Row to the habitat and migration of the different whales and birds. Great trip.
The Princess offered every one on board a free trip later in the day to try again. Very professional crew and trip. I would definitely recommend them. |

We loved our cruise with The Princess Monterey. There were 16 of us, they made it very easy to be a large group. They nearly guaranteed whales and we weren't disappointed...we saw humpbacks and orcas. I highly recommend this as a family outing. |

Not much to say ... 31/2 hr. cruise with just ONE whale sighting ..... and that too the whale was over half a mile away from the boat!!!! The 'Captain' banks on the tourists to spot the whales ... no equipment to detect their presence in this world of hi-tech !!! DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY or TIME !!!!! |

Our host was so energetic, she made the trip worthwhile. My husband and I went on the trip without our 4 year old daughters. However, we will definitly go back with our kids. They would have loved it. |

My wife and I and our daughter and her husband went on the whale watch. We only saw one (1) whale, a humpback during the trip. That was pretty exciting, watching the whale surface and then diving while waving his tail at us. The maring biologist who "narrated" was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I would recommend the Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise to anyone! |

My 10 year old son and I very much enjoyed our whale watching cruise. We saw a total of 5 humpback whales, portpoises, sea otters and many species of birds. The staff, especially Katherine the marine biologist who narrated the tour, were very friendly and knowledgable. The boat was comfortable and provided plenty of room for people to move about and sit inside where its covered if desired. I would not recommend this tour for children much younger than 10 as there is a lot of waiting involved while you are cruising the ocean looking for whales. I saw a few children around 5 or so that were very unhappy. Also I would consider taking a preventive dose of dramamine prior to the trip as a precaution as the seas were fairly rough and several people were not feeling well. My son and I took the dramamine prior and had no problems.I highly recommend this tour! |
