The young lady we had do the describing was friendly and seemed to know her material. We were glad to have seen a whale even though it was very foggy and commend the "skipper" for following it (all the other boats came and "poached" our whale) and staying with it - even giving us a few extra looks at the end. |

While recognizing that the focus was on whales, we were primarily bird wathchers and had hoped for better t the seabirds. The naturalist was not very interested about giving info on the birds, and indeed admitted that she had forgotten her binoculars! At the beginning of the trip, she stated that one of her focus was on birds. |

Humpback whales put on a show of leaping out of the water.
Great sight. Weather was less than great, but whale activity made up for
the slightly unfavorable weather. |

We were able to get some of our questions answered, but not very many. There was no naturalist on board even though it was advertised that there was. We got very lucky in seeing whales...the captain knew where they were. |

This was my second time whale watching from the Monterey Warf. From the experience I've had I can honestly say that what type of boat you go out on, has as much if not more to do with how pleasant or memorable your experience will be, as whether or not you see any whales or marine life.
The Princess is a great boat and is truly set up to ideally handle large groups of people all eager to spot ocean life up close and personal. The inside cabin is completely surrounded by windows allowing those who may get cold to still see from inside.
The larger profile of the Princess also means a smoother ride!! I big bonus if you are one to get sea sick, or for older or very young family members that may not do as well on a smaller more rocky boat's deck.
Over all I'd highly recommend the Princess for your first or future whale watching excursions. |

We would highly recommend this to anyone...young or old (unless you are prone to seasickness). It's a big boat which helped. We saw lots of whales, otters, birds, seals etc. Length of time was just enough. |
