Overall, I enjoyed our whale watching trip. I have been whale watching once before (not in Monterey) and it was dissappointing because we did not even see one whale, but on this trip we saw three whales upclose. The beginning of the boat ride as well as seeing the whales was extremely fun, but I did not particularly enjoy the ride back because I was very wet, cold, and getting dizzy. But other than that, it was a fun experience. |

To begin, my sister and I loved the rough ride out to the ocean. We enjoyed other's reactions to the waves. It was exciting to see our first glimpse of a grey whale. It became even more exciting when we got to see a grey whale actually come out and splash water out of his blow hole and it was breath-taking to see it go back inside the water and do the "tail bye-bye". Wonderful and unforgetable experience. |

The marine biologist/MC was enthusiastic about her job. She made it exciting for everyone. She promised we'd see some "whale tail" and she followed up on that promise. Humpbacks were spotted on numerous occasions. Awesome sight!! |

We had five people in our group. An 85 yr old prone to dizzy spells, two people that get car sick on mountain roads, and two others. We chose the Princess because it had a heated cabin, a snack bar, a restroom and was 100 ft long. I thought the vessel's length would help dampen wave action. The weather was sunny, light winds, and cool. There were about 50-60 passengers aboard.
The crew was very accomodating especially one young man who circulated among us asking if everything was alright and making useful suggestions when weren't. My wife commented that the narrater made the trip fun and like an adventure. But no amount of narration could make up for the rough ride when heading out to sea. The trip to the viewing area takes about an hour and is the most unpleasant time with several people sick at the back of the boat. Surprisingly, my 85 yr old mother didn't get sick at all, though was bounced around a lot by the boat as it kept turning to find a better view of whales. Mostly we saw blow plumes, arched backs and tails as whales dove under water. My mother saw the best view of the entire trip when a whale leaped out of the water full-length and came crashing down not more than 800 feet from the boat. I only saw the splash as I whipped around to see what people were exclaiming about! My wife unfortunately didn't see any whales as she was fixing her gaze on a distant point on land so as to ward off the queeziness she was feeling.
The thing to remember about this trip is that you will travel for about two hours, actually view whales for about five minutes and be searching for them for about 45 minutes. That was my experience of it. |

I was apprehensive about taking this trip. But once on board and the whale and dolphin watching began i was truly enjoying it. I was disappointed somewhat in the market of the product verus what you really get when you arrive. The marine biologist was informative and kept us entertained. I understand that there is a distance that has to be kept from the animals and was alittle disapointed with that. But overall is was a nice trip. Alittle costly but with gas prices and all it was worth it. |

Loved this whale watching- great informative marine biologist on board. NICE ship. Everyone very helpful. I almost didn't mind how sick I got.
The sea was rough and the captain did his best, I have to say. Tons of dolphins and 3 Humpback whales feeding, many months before season for them.
All in all, amazing trip. |

The staff was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and hospitable. We've never been on a whale watching tour so not sure what to compare it to. The loudspeaker was poor so we hardly understood anything the guide said. Also, they delayed the tour by a half hour due to weather, which is not unreasonable, but they could have called us say an hour before to let us know. Then we would not have had to stand in the cold and wait. I'm quite sure when I signed up you asked for a local or cell number. |
