Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

We had a nice time during our whale watching tour. However, we would recommend families with young children to reconsider unless sure the child is up for the 2.5 to 3 hr ride. We had a 6 yr old who was starting to get uneasy toward the latter part of the ride. It was also quite chilly for which we were, fortunately, properly clothed. The captain and tour guide did their best to follow a group of 3 or 4 grey whales but were not able to get too close. Perhaps a better time to take the tour is earlier in the year when the whales are migrating in larger numbers. Still the ride was very pleasant as we got beautiful views of the coastline from Moss Landing to Pebble Beach.

We saw four grey whales while on the boat. It was exciting, but i think I wanted them to get closer.

Beautiful day for a whale watch. Crew was very helpful and friendly. Only suggestion was to further limit size of group so everyone could see the whales when they do show themselves.

Our recent family trip to the Monterey area included an early morning adventure with Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises. The vessel was comfortable, the crew attentive plus we were able to see two separate pods of whales for almost an hour! Highly recommend this trip!

We were disappointed with this aspect of the trip and a better option to see the whales closer up came along, the captain decided it was time to go back to port even though we were late starting out and probably had time to make up. The tour leader, a young lady was very informative but also very loud. I would imagine her voice carried a long way across the bay. The sightings of the dolphins were fantastic.

My wife and i went on the March 31 trip. It was windy, raining and miserable. Did not saw a single dolphin, let alone a wale. Hopefully some other day!!!!

On our trip we had heavy fog out in Monterey Bay. Nevertheless the crew was able to "track down" some whales. This fact speaks for their experience to run this business! However, you should be aware that it is up to the whales how close you will get. The skippers will not chase them in order to get as close as possible! In our case, it was some 350 yards we got towards the group of grey whales, not closer. The pictures on the homepage indicates somewhat a closer contact an a more spectacular whale experience...But anyway, we´ve seen some whale it was worth the trip!

I am a local, and have never been whale watching in CA. I have always went in Maui, so I wasn't expecting much after being spoiled with that. I was very happy that we were able to see blue whales and dolphins on our trip. My mother was out visiting from Pennsylvania and had never been whale watching, so it was very special for her. The boat was a larger one, which was good since there was always space without having to look through other people. I would reccomend this activity to anyone 100%

Enjoyd it but wish we could have been closer to the action. The white side dolphins were fun to watch.

We did the trip as part of our honeymoon as my wife has always wanted to see whales - we weren't disappointed! Crew were helpful and friendly and the on board commentary was informative and knowledgeable.
