Not much by way of narration. No preboarding rules or instructions. Seating/viewing space was not great. Girlfriend could never see over crowds once a whale was spotted.

We saw many humpback whales, Risso's dolphins and blue whales! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, which made the experience a lot more interesting.

This is the 4th whale watching trip I have taken out of Monterey. All with Princess. Each time was different from seeing a small set of 3 whales to this last trip yesterday where we saw at least 15 whales. One of the breached! In addition we saw s whole group of sea lions feeding out where the whales were, there must have been 500 of them, they swam around the boat. As with all trips in nature you don't know what you will see. The first time I went I planned on going to the aquarium first. That way if nothing was seen I would get to experience sea life in the aquarium. At the very least the boat is nice and the bay is beautiful. (Dress warm as it is cold on the water).

I would have never thought that "Whale Watching" would be so exhilarating and just plain fun. Our guide was very knowledgeable which made it very interesting. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is wanting to go "Whale Watching". The boat was big enough so I didn't feel crowded or closed in. Thank you for a wonderful 3 hours.

Good experience but prepare for vertigo

Generally speaking, if you are curious enough about whales, you will be happy. You will see whales anyway (at least with tails and the small fountain on their bodies). Also you need to prepare for vertigo as the ship will significantly fluctuate and take good care of your camera/mobile phone if you want to take a photo. You must put at least one hand on no matter you are sitting or leaning to the handrail.
