Great Trip and Guide

Positives: Greatland boat was large and spacious, female marine naturalist was enthusiastic and gave us tons of info on birds, whales, dolphins, otters. Negatives: although I had read about it ahead of time, the $20 upcharge per person to sit on the top deck of the boat was a negative. It made us feel like second class citizens and we had better views from the bow. I would recommend they change this.

Good whale watching tour

Princess Whale Watching was professionally managed and organized. We saw humpback and gray whales on the tour. Though given Federal restrictions, the boat cannot get within 100 yards of the whales so there is a bit of distance there. Most visible thing was the tail, but primarily just saw fleeting views of the back of the whales. Not an overwhelming experience but worht the trip. Be sure to wear multiple layers to keep warm as the wind chill keeps thing very cold, even on a sunny day.

Great ride, the guide and captain kept us up to date on where to look immediately! Took a lot of great whale photos! Safety of everyone was their primary concern, and they would gently and politely remind people to hold on because of the boat movement. We are looking forward to another trip soon to see a different pod of whales this summer, I wish it was tomorrow! You folks are GREAT!!

My wife and I traveled form Nashville TN to vacation in San Francisco and Monterey. The sights in San Francisco were fantastic and the Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise in Monterey was the highlight of the trip. On our cruise we spotted several Gray and Humpback Whale. The total experience was outstanding. If you're traveling to this area I would highly recommend this cruise. I give it a 5 Star!!!

If comfort is important book on this companies ships. They are the biggest that leave Monterey and if the bay is choppy you will be happy you did. Heated cabin and the staff do there best to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable!

Good trip

We had a great time on the trip. The boat was very clean and well maintained. The Naturalist had plenty of great and detailed information on whales to keep us all entertained while we made our way to the spot where the whales could be found. The crew was friendly and helpful. Once there, the boat captain did a great job of keeping us close to the animals so we could see them and also respecting the laws that govern how close we could get. The only downside I can think of was some of the other passengers. Several got seasick and did not listen to the advice of the crew. This made the inside cabin a bad place to be. This is not the cruise operators fault. My advice to make your trip enjoyable is dress warm and if you think you might be susceptible to getting seasick be sure to take some precautions (dramamine or some other remedy). March and April is a great time of year to see these animals. The 2.5 hour trip was enough time for us to see and experience the whales.

Lots to see and a great experience

My husband and I went and were really excited about going as it was a first time adventure for us. The weather was nice, but the swells on the ocean were big and the boat felt like it was being tossed all over. We were ok for the first 30 minutes, but then started getting motion sickness. If not for that, we would have enjoyed it alot more. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the biologist narrating the tour was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. We saw a few whales and some dolphins. I would recommend this to others, along with a note to take something along for motion sickness just in case.
