OUR WHALE WATCHING TRIP WAS EXCITING AS WE WERE ABLE TO SEE HUMPBACK WHALES, SEA OTTERS, COMMON DOLPHINS ETC. OUR GUIDE WAS INFORMATIVE AND HELPFULL . THE BOAT WAS OVERLOADED WITH PAATRONS AS THERE WASNT ENOUGH SEATING ON BOARD FOR EVERYBODY. MANY PEOPLE HAD TO STAND OR GO INSIDE THE CABIN IF THEY WANTED TO SIT DOWN. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TYPE OF TRIP BUT SUGGEST CHECKING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ANY SHIP WOULD ACCEPT.

Two whales sighted, not the best time of year

Took the trip the day before Thanksgiving. We had a voucher that had to be used by the end of the year , so we took a chance. Not much whale activity. Saw two humpbacks. The crew was talkative, knowledgeable and informative. If you are a carsick kind of person, you will need to take precautions! 5-6 people on this trip fed the fish over the back of the boat, including my son. Had lunch on the wharf afterwards and spent some time at cannery row. All in all - a good day.

Lots of Fun!

This was a fun trip that delivered on its promise. It was really fun to see the humpback whales as well as other sea creatures in the bay! The tour guide was enthusiastic, fun to listen to, and full of information. I also found our boat crew to be very personable and friendly.

The biggest mistake is to go there and expect seeing lots of jumps, killer wales or anything like that. If you ok with just seeing some fins and tails a few hundred feet away you're on the right way :P

Comfortable, relaxing and Whales!

I selected this ship based on its size relative to the others. I figured my wife, who has been known to get car sick, would do better on a larger ship and I was right! She did feel a little upset on the way back to port but no problems before then. The sea was slightly choppy. We did see Humpback Whales, a Whale Shark, and dolphins of course. It was a very nice trip, great narration and plenty of deck so we didn't bump against other people. I couldn't imagine any other ships coming close to the comfort we had on this ship. The wife was very excited to come back and do it again. She felt the ship's size helped her overcome sea sickness so if this is a concern for you give the Princess Monterey a try. We were very pleased.

Beautiful Day, Nice Sightings

Our trip was Sunday morning 13 November 2011. We saw two whales that had been observed for the past week or so. They did not approach the boat and we saw them from a distance - good tail viewings. We also saw several sea otters and sea lions and a large group of dolphin. Boat ride was lovely with a great naturalist on board who was very informative and we learned a lot (who knew whales ear wax can determine their age?). Dress warm in layers in Nov. Needed hat/mittens on the shaded side of the boat. Weather was clear, bright sunny. Looking foward to doing this again next trip.
