A check off my bucket list

One of my bucket list items was to see a whale in its natural habitat. Princess Monterey helped make that come true, so for that I thank them!! It wasn't looking good with the weather and everything but they stuck it out and didn't give up until we seen a whale. Then they hung around the whale for about a half an hour. It was great! The whale didn't come out of the water like I would've liked but at least it showed itself. On the way back we got to see dolphins and of course, little sea otters. All in all, it was a good time.

On our trip we had the opportunity to view a Humpback Whale and saw the whale's fluke as well as about a dozen Risso dolphins and a sea otter. In my opinion, there is nothing that can match being that close to such a large mammal in it's natural setting. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly and I would highly recommend it.

ONLY SAW 1 WHALE

IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE TIME OF THE YEAR, BUT 3RD WEEK OF JUNE ONLY HAD US SEEING 1 WHALE (BARELY) AND 2 DOLPHINS (BARELY). $171 FOR A FAMILY OF 4 WAS A LITTLE PRICEY. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS AS A SUMMER TOUR. FOUND OUT LATER FROM A MEMBER OF THE BOAT CREW THAT THE 2ND WEEK OF JANUARY WAS THE BEST TIME TO SEE WHALES.

Check-in and boarding process was smooth. Saw many groups of dolphins and a humpback whale. We followed the whale as it was swimming before heading back to shore. The marine biologist/naturalist onboard offered lots of good information regarding the wildlife in the area. Great views of the shoreline. Would definitely recommend purchasing some of the Gin-Gin ginger candies in the shop before heading out as they worked wonders for motion sickness. It also does get very cold out on the water, even in June, so would recommend bringing warm layers. Only wish we could have seen some killer whales, but you can't predict nature.

Not Worth The Cost

Disappointing whale watching trip. Boat ride was extremely rough. Whale activity minimal. What little we did see was at very long distance and even with telephoto lens, pictures of whales were almost indistinguishable. Would not do it again.

Disapointed

We did not enjoy this trip, we were on the back of the boat & found there was limited seating, most of the seating was inside where you would not have seen anything, but didn't see much anyway, as we are not extra tall people could not see over everyone else, we could not hear the commentary from the bridge as the mike's we not loud enough, even though I know that its hit or miss if you see any whales, we just seemed to follow one whale for a few miles & just caught a glance of a tail, they said they helped with sea sickness but children were sick on the back of the boat, but nobody helped them, and when I went to get ginger for sea sickness it was'nt free they charge you $3 and one crew member stood at the back just kept spitting overboard, all in all to us it was just a cold trip out to sea & back, and I would not recommend it.
