Whale watching cruise is worth it but the sea was pretty rough specially when the boat slowed down to spot the whales. I will not recommend this for people who are easily get sea sick otherwise it is highly recommended. It is worth the experience.

OVERALL GOOD WITH A FEW COMPLAINTS
Sat, Jul 13, 13   1:30 PM pmeadows47 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
OVERALL IT WAS AN ENJOYABLE TRIP. A FEW SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE UPGRADE YOUR SOUND SYSTEM !! WHILE ON FRONT OF BOAT THE NARRATION WAS EASY TO HEAR AND UNDERSTAND BUT WHILE ON THE REAR OF THE BOAT EVEN STANDING IN FRONT OF SINGLE SPEAKER THE CAPTAIN WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR AND/OR UNDERSTAND. WE DID SEE A COUPLE OF WHALES AND SOME DOLPHINS, ALTHOUGH I'M SURE EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE THE WHALES BREACHING WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT IS LUCK OF THE DRAW. A SECOND SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO MAYBE HAVE THE CREW INTERACT A LITTLE MORE WITH ALL THE PASSENGERS INSTEAD OF JUST THE ONES "FEEDING THE FISH" OFF THE REAR OF THE BOAT.

I took my 17 and 15 year old daughters, and my 11 year old son on this trip. All three had a great time. We spotted several whales and they were able to take a bunch of pictures. The crew was very knowledgeable and told us where to look and what to look for. I would recommend this trip for any family with teenage or younger kids.

Worth doing once

Dress warm, we went in July and it was cold but fortunately we had read other reviews and were dressed for it. The staff was friendly and informative. We saw a humpback whale (flipped its tail for us) and a blue whale on our 3 hour tour. No breeching or anything tremendously exciting but we had a bunch of teen-agers that thought it was pretty cool. The water was not particularly rough but we did have a couple of people get seasick. They perked right back up later in the afternoon once we were back on land though.

Although this is not a trip for those who get nauseous while travelling, it was exactly what it was billed as. We had a great time and my 7 year old grandaughter loved seeing the blue whales, sea lions, otters and other sea life. Definitely an experience worth having.

Good, but could have been better.

This was a very informative and pleasant cruise. Although the sightings were not plentiful, we were able to see at least 3-4 Blue Whales. My only issue was this: When a whale is sighted, the boat needs to be positioned so that it is visible either from the right or the left side of the boat. There is not enough space for everyone to be on one side or the other. Approximately 70% of the passengers stayed on the right, where the first whale was sighted. I thought I would be patient (and considerate) by staying on the left, expecting that a whale would eventually be sighted there. Well, it was, but the captain promptly turned the boat so that only those same people on the right side could see it! I guess they rely on those of us who are considerate to keep their boat from capsizing! I also guess that they'd rather keep 70% of their passengers happy, than 30%. The sad thing is that it really could (and should) have been 100% if the captain had just been more considerate himself.

Great Way To See California's Wonders!

I come from the East Coast and have been on many whale watches out of Boston and Cape Cod. I have to say that this was one of the top experiences of my life. The captain was enthusiastic and provided history, knowledge and insight into the coastal area and wildlife. Not to mention we had the great experience of seeing multiple Blue Whales which is very rare! The boat was not over packed, but there were many out of country tourists who did not understand "go to the back of the boat if you are going to be sick", which resulted in some not so savory moments. Other than that i would say it was well worth the trip. I now can say I have seen the largest animal on the planet! Thank you Princess!
