started out great, then we just aimlessly drove

We did get to see 2 humpback whales in the beginning. It was fun even though they were rather far away. The Captain talked about the whales. After a while of following the 2 whales the said we are going to look for more. We drove for an hour and 1/2 off the coast and they never explained anything. The rest of the trip we didn't see anything other then a bird and they never said a word on the loud speaker. I felt left in the dark. I had more fun watching sea lions on the dock.

Our 1st whale watching tour
Mon, Jul 29, 13   12:30 PM yankeefanbob Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
This being our 1st WW tour we were very exciting and not really sure of what to expect. When we saw our 1st blowhole spouting we were very excited. We saw 3 humpbacks on the 2 1/2 hour tour, all from a distance. The skipper seemed to be chasing them to get a closer view for the customers(which after researching I found out isn't cool) to no avail., they just keep swimming faster, the boat couldn't keep up! After awhile the bio naturalist announcer didn't talk much, she seemed to stop being interested or informative. We live only 1 1/2 hours from Monterey, so we will go on other WW tours from the competitors, just to compare and get a feel about other companies and their operations. We are hooked on Whale Watching.......also it was a "piece of cake" using Zerve to purchase our tickets.

July 2013 Family Whale Watch
Mon, Jul 29, 13   10:00 AM pfaulkner Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
29th July 2013. Myself, my wife, and two teenage daughters (15 and 13). We all enjoyed this, especially because as well as some humpbacks we had the luck to see a Blue Whale! I would definitely recommend this but here are some things you should consider: 1. It is chilly, even in July! Make sure you take some layers (a sweater or hoodie AND a waterproof coat) even if it is hot when you leave. The rapid return at the end is cold and wet. 2. It is crowded. Even though there are enough seats and everyone sits on the way out, as soon as whale is spotted everyone crowds to the point on the boat that faces the whale and it is difficult to see especially for smaller children. So be prepared to move around a lot... no time for just sitting! 3. You do not get as close as you would like to the whales. This is understandable but it means that if you want photos make sure you have a good lens. 4. If you want good photos, make sure your camera has a "burst" mode (continuous pictures while the shutter is pressed). The whales appear briefly and in unpredictable places so are difficult to catch on film. Alternatively just look, enjoy and remember.

1ST CLASS RECOMMEND HIGHLY
Mon, Jul 29, 13   10:00 AM addington1 Unspecified 50-59 Combination Group of Friends
WE WENT AT THE END OF JULY ON A 10 AM TRIP WE CHECKED THE WEATHER THE DAY BEFORE AND BOUGHT SEASICK TABLETS WHICH I'M GLAD BECAUSE ALTHOUGH IT WAS RELATIVELY CALM THERE WERE STILL PEOPLE V. UNWELL ON THE BOAT SO GO PREPARED. WE WERE FINE. THE CREW ARE FANTASTIC REALLY FRIENDLY AND CARING TOWARDS PEOPLE WHO ARE UNWELL PARTICULARLY. THE COMMENTARY IS REALLY INFORMATIVE AND WE SAW 3 HUMPBACKS AND 1 BLUE WHALE WE WERE THRILLED. 2 AND A HALF HOURS IS MORE THAN LONG ENOUGH AND THE CAR PARK IS A LITTLE CONFUSING IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE WAY SO CHECK IT OUR FIRST. THIS COMPANY IS FANTASTIC

Very good trip

We all enjoyed our trip. The crew were very attentive and concerned everyone had a good view, were warm enough and enjoying themselves. They were also knowledge about the marine life. Dress with lots of layers, it gets cold and if you suffer from motion sickness take medication well in advance; you'll need it.

The tour guide was so knowledgeable about all of the animals we saw. We were lucky enough to see blue whales and a killer whale, as well as lots of dolphins, jellyfish, and birds.

Monterey trip

We went to the Monterey Bay Auarium and learned about the bay, which helped. The cruise was good, well narrated, and smooth sailing/boating. There was some crowding around the lower rails, so once in a while it was difficult to get a good view. Thankfully the boat was only about 1/2-1/3 full so there wasn't a lot of crowding (we were on the earliest boat, which may have helped). If you haven't gone, go for it!

The boat was way too crowded, but we got some great views of the whales. Keep in mind you problaly wont get close to them, the whales will be pretty far away
