Not worth the effort!

The trip we went on was on October 25, 2009 and because the seas were so rough, some passengers got seasick. I know that seasickness doesn't happen to all but a warning should be posted BEFORE boarding that the seas are rough so that patrons can decide whether to go or not. I think that the captains of the boats know when the seas are rough (I would hope the captains hired are experienced enough to know the sea) and should think of the passengers' well being before setting sail. By the way, we saw one whale at the tail end of the trip (3 hours of agony) and it was so far away because of the sea swells, that I can't really call the experience "whale watching." Think before you reserve your seat(s) on this one!

a Promise Kept

The cruise was terrific -- and your kept your promise by finding us whales to watch -- humpback whales. The captain also went out of his way to find a large group of dolphins to play in our bow-wave, which was wonderful to see. A perfect day -- thanks so much.

good experience

I had a good experience over all. We saw a couple of whales during the 1:30 tour, we were told that the morning tour usually has better sightings. A few people got sea sick because it was a bumpy ride. I would suggest taking a hooded sweater and maybe some gloves because it was really cold.

Excellent experience! The crew and the ship were as expected from a review of the website and other passenger comments. My only suggestion is to take your own binoculars. Enjoy a great few hours.

Nice boat. Nice people. Not a nice trip. Takes a long time to get out to the open ocean (about 45 minutes) . We got sick as did a lot of people. No whales. Just a pod of dolphins. Wouldn't do it again.

I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of our guide who kept the entire group very engaged. To see the Humpbacks as close as we did, exceeded my expectations!!

It was our pleasure to be on board the Pacific Explorer boat to watch different kinds of Whale in Monterey bay. Late October and early November are goodweather months to watch Whales and other sea animals

1. The trip started after 3:45pm, not the 2:30pm mentioned on the ticket 2. The boat was not the Princess as advertised 3. The trip was slightly shorter than 2 hours 10 minutes, not the 2 and a half hours to 3 hours.

Chatty naturalist, limited close-up whale sighting

We enjoyed the courtesy of the crew and the comfort of your boat, but we thought the naturalist describing the "action" was much too chatty. In my opinion, one needs more time to just see and even hear the whales without the running dialogue over a loudspeaker. Less talk. Also, I'm not sure if Calif. laws prohibit getting too close to the whales, but our east coast experiences with whale watching (Maine, Canada) provided many more opportunities to get much closer to the whales, allowing for more photo ops. This was our first opportunity to see humpback whales and it was relatively disappointing. Thank you for providing the opportunity for feedback.
