Great trip! Would defiitely do it again

We had a great trip that everybody thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of marine life to see, not to mention the beautiful scenery of the Monterey Bay and spectacular coastline. If you have spent time whale watching in Maui and/or Alaska, the actual whale portion off the trip may be a bit anit-climatic, but the rest of the trip makes up for it. Nice boat, great crew and naturalist.

Totally Enjoyable and Educational Whale Watch Tour
Fri, Jan 18  1:30 PM JamesFinley Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I found the Whale Watching tour to be very informative and educational. The Captain and crew of the Princess were knowledgeable and informative. Their grasp of the subject exceeded my expectations and was very impressive. Their willingness to answer questions and share their experiences and facts about the whales and other marine life in the area was welcomed. It was a very good experience and I highly recommend everyone to take advantage of this worthwhile opprtunity. It is a true value for your time and money.

A very satisfying 2 1/2 hours

It was a gorgeous day and we saw the spouts, backs, and tails of lots of gray whales. Unfortunately, gray whales don't breach the way humpbacks do, so we didn't see any "whole" whales. The naturalist was informed, interesting and personable. And it really helped that the boat was so uncrowded--about 10 customers and 3 crew. It was fun to see who could spot the next pod of grays.

Fabulous

The day was warm by winter standards, the water was calm and the whales, seals and jellyfish were plentiful. The crew was very knowledgeable and able to navigate in an expert manner to get us the best views possible. After posting some photos on Facebook, I was immediately asked what tour we took. So I was able to recommend to all my friends.

Very enjoyable, close-up observation of a pod of 20-25 whales criss-crossing the bay for about an hour, the Naturalist/Biologist on-board was very informative about whales/other local wildlife and history/culture of the area, excellent weather, excellent boat ride (100 feet long)!

Very nicely maintained boat, comfortable, very nice crew, fantastic guide. The captain stayed out longer than the other boats because we experienced a very large (15-20) pod of whales, something he said he hadn't seen for a long time.....Great fun, beautiful sunny calm day. Thanks.

I had the pleasure of watching whales with this wonderful tour group. Not only did we see gray whales but also, sea lions, sea otters and porpoises. The guide was very knowledgable about whales and their activities. We had a great time and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Monterey.

Not worth it for us
Tue, Jan 15  10:00 AM Harece Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Although the staff was very pleasant, we were disappointed with this trip. To be fair, we have lived on the Florida coast and had numerous up close sightings of dolphin, manatees and sting rays, so we were just not impressed with the distant sightings of the dolphin and whales that we were provided. We understand that the boat must stay 100 yards from the whales, but we felt like we were much further than that. It was just not the awe-inspiring adventure we had hoped for. And at three hours, frankly we were bored with the trip well before it ended. One thing that added to our desire to get off the boat was that as the boat idled to wait for the whales to surface, the engine fumes accumulated and started making us nauseous. Everyone was checked on by a crew member while this happened and fortunately no one got visibly sick. I think that if you were completely unexposed to this type of environment and experience, it might be worthwhile. For us, it was frustratingly disappointing.

Amazing

We didn't realize that we had to be there 30 minutes before the tour time so it was a mad dash to make the boat. Once there everything went smoothly, we had four adults and two children in our group and the team were very efficient issuing our tickets and getting everybody on board. We had a choppy start to the trip and several people were ill, I don't know if sea sick tablets would have helped. We saw a few gray whales and most of us enjoyed holding on tight in search of more whales. We couldn't believe our luck when we got to see Orca whales frolicking in the sea, at that stage my son wasn't feeling too good so we had taken a position at the back of the boat..the Orca whales were jumping out of the water right beside us...it was amazing. We stayed as long as we could with the Orca whales and the tour guides were really informative. It was an amazing trip, well worth doing but I would reconsider doing it if you suffer from motion sickness as no matter how amazing the Whales may be there is no fun to be had when your stomach is so upset.

A great family friendly treat
Tue, Jan 1  1:30 PM Erenouf Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We are a family of 6, 2 children under 10, mum, dad & grandparents. We all enjoyed every minute of the tour. The boat was clean, warm inside, felt very secure and easy to get off and on. The gentleman that did the commentating was very interesting and informative. The crew were also very focused on our safety but without lecturing and being boring. We saw lots of grey whales and learnt so much about these wonderful creatures, my 6 year old daughter and my 63 year old dad keep quoting facts at me!! We plan to go whale watching again with other family members and I will be using this company again. We had a wonderful time from start to finish, thank you.

Great experience!! The ship was clean. Both the on-site crew and ship crew were very friendly, considerate, informed, and did an awesome job. The weather was great too, thanks for that. Learned a lot about the ocean and it's inhabitants. Would defiantly recommend and use them again.

Saw a few whale tales.

Was supposed to be on a larger boat with snack bar. I specifically booked a certain boat yet was put on a smaller boat with no snack bar. Plus the boat cabin was recently painted so the smell of paint was quite disturbing. Would not recommend this Whale Tour to anyone

Overall it was a good experience. Would have liked to see more but glad we were able to see the whale's tail a couple of times. It gets very very cold!!! Bring a beanie and some gloves
