Besides the usual seals, sea otters, jellyfish and seabirds, we saw a humpback whale and her baby. They didn't breach, so we saw mostly their backs, and their tails when they went for a deep dive. Still, we watched them for about 45 minutes. The boat ride is pleasant, but I do suggest that anyone who may get seasick should try using Bonine ahead of time. My husband get seasick, but he took the pills the night before and the morning of, and he was just fine, in spite of some people getting kind of queasy on our trip. No marine biologist (it was thanksgiving) but the captain knows his stuff and provided us with a lot of information. Also, it is not apparent anywhere on this site, or on signs at the boat, but you need to exchange your e-ticket that you get from here for paper tickets in the shack before boarding starts. We did not know that, waited half an hour, only to have to struggle back through the crowd behind us to get back on the pier to exchange our ticket. Other than that, the trip was pleasant and worth doing.

This was my second time whale watching with this company. The people are always very informative and go out of their way to answer all questions. The boat is clean and you feel safe when abroad. Thanksgivings day the weather was beautiful. The seals, otters, birds and especially the whales gave me many opportunities for some great photos. Can't wait to plan my next trip.

I HAVE BEEN ON MANY WHALE EXURSIONS OVER THE YEARS AND THIS ONE IS NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THOSE. THE BOAT STAYED IN ONE SPOT FOR OVER AND HOUR TAKING ON BIG SWELLS CHASING TWO WHALES. ALL OF THE WHALE TRIPS I HAVE BEEN ON, I HAVE NEVER STAYED IN THE SAME SPOT FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. THE BOAT WAS NICE AND IT WAS A GREAT DAY AND I DID SEE 4 WHALES ON THE 3 HOUR TOUR WHICH WAS GREAT. COULD I HAVE SEEN MORE?? I THINK SO....

The trip far exceeded my expectations. There was plenty of space in the boat with room to see easily when the whales were nearby. Our hopes were not raised too high by the 'naturalist' who accompanied us, which was probably wise but we were lucky to sight whales blowing within about 10 minutes of setting out. I appreciated the way the boat then stayed in the area, just idling and keeping close, giving us all time to see the whales come up to breath on several occasions. Very memorable.

A splendid 3-hour cruise! From early check-in through disembarking the vessel, the whole crew was nothing short of happy, helpful and professional. The Deck Hands offered advice on avoiding getting sea sick, and were great around our small children. The Captain's 30+ years of experience was obvious as he skillfully navigated the bay, all-the-while describing the various whales and creatures we might encounter. Though the swells were pretty big that day, the Captain did well in considering the comfort of his passengers throughout the trip's entirety. The vessel, PRINCESS MONTEREY, was clean and comfortable with plenty of seating and handrails! I'd definitely recommend and go back with friends or family! Finally, if you're prone to getting sea sick and forget your Dramamine, they have ginger candies ("Gin-Gins" as seen on Mythbusters) for a donation. My kids, however, hated their taste and only got 1 candy down (suggested serving size is 6 candies). Though I don't get sea sick, I ate one of the Gin-Gins to see what was "so horrible" about them...nothing at all unless gingerbread cookies are "so horrible." Silly kids...

Although the seas were rough, the capain worked hard to find whales for us to view. We did find two groups--and watched them for a while. Loved that tail flipping up as they prepared to dive. The Naturalist was not on board during our trip--she was "on assignment", but the captian was very informative. The crew was very helpful with those folks that were seasick.

It was a perfect gift for my date. Her birthday was 11/20 and mine is 11/22. She had mentioned on a previous trip to Monterey 9/15/07 about how she had always wanted to do a whale watching excursion. But no one ever wanted to go with her. Well, because I absolutely adore her, I decided to go online to make this happen. Honestly, I have never done anything like this before. Thank you for making it simple. Review: From start to finish everything was good. The staff on board were kind and courtious. Everything was cooperative, the weather and certainly the whales. We were fortunate to see two sets of mothers and babies. A very unforgetable and memorable moment for the both of us. I was so happy to be the one to share this with her. The whole experience of being on the seas and seeing some of God's most remarkable creations was a total high. In between the whales appearances, I took in all I could to treasure forever. I intend to try and catch the grey whales in January. I definitely recommend this experience to everyone and anyone. As I said on the boat to another shipmate, "this is better than Disneyland". It was worth the money and effort. And my dear friend, well she has a lasting picture of the almighty "whales tail" that she put on her computer screen at her work. And for me, I'm glad to have made this happen for her. So if your contemplating doing this, "go for it". Oh, and by the way, take two dramamines and wear the wrist bands. You"ll enjoy the trip much better. They do work. Happy Trails. Christopher Alamano Fresno, Calif.

Being a veteran of several whale-watching trips, this trip was pleasant, although not one of our best trips. We saw only a couple of whales, although this could have been due to the lateness of the season (November 13). We also saw a few sea lions that kept repeatedly jumping out of the water. The weather was very comfortable, and the water was very smooth. If I went again, I would go a little earlier in the season. The naturalist leader of our trip was very fun and informative. I would recommend her without question.

I thought that the captain and staff were very knowledgable and caring about our experience. My only complaint was that it was supposed to be 2.5 hours possibly even 3 depending on the whales but we returned back to the dock under 2 hours... Since it was the most expensive one I researched I thought that was disappointing. Other than that it was great and I would consider recommending them but would let them know about the time/price thing first.
Rating: 3 OK, but didn't see a whole lot.

Crew was nice, boat appeared to be one of the nicest in the marina which is definitely a plus, but really didn't see much of anything to make it a worthwhile experience. So, if you definitely want to go on a whale watching trip I recommend this company, but if you aren't sure whether you want to go whale watching or do something else then do something else.
