Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

We had a grey day but that didn't stop the whales. We saw many humpbacks and one or two even breached. At the end a mama whale and her calf came up very close to the boat and blew, and just hung around visiting for a few minutes. Tips: be sure to dress in layers or bring a coat and bundle up--it's cold out there and our trip was in July! Gloves are good too, because you have to hold on to the railing to keep your footing, and the railing is cold and gets wet. Take your dramamine!! Several people got very sick. Ginger chews also help with seasickness. Remember sunscreen-even though it was foggy and overcast the whole time, we still got roasted.

Reasonable time with whales and greatly staffed.

This is such an exciting trip, My boyfried and I have gone on two separate occasions. Both times saw amazing Humpbacks, Mother/Baby duo, the baby was playful and breached about 4 times. Amazing. Another time the humpback came out of the water with mouth wide open feeding, so incredible. Love this group

This was my third time dojng a whale watching tour with Princess Monterey Whale Watching. Having had such great experiences my last two trips, I was fully expecting to this time. While we saw several whales, my friend and I (as well as others on our "side" of the boat) were a bit dissapointed. The day we went was the first day they used the new boat, and it was sold out. Thankfully there was room for everyone, as well as a top-deck. When we arrived to where the first whales were seen, they were on the right side of the boat, and we were on the left. The water was pretty choppy, and again, the tour was sold-out, which made it hard to get to the right side. Having been on this trip two other times, I assured my friend that the captain always makes sure to allow everyone a view by turning the boat. While we waited for this to happen, the whales made their way in front of the boat coming towards our side. This was our chance to see these beautiful whales up-close. So imagine our surprise when the naturalist said "Here, we'll turn the boat so they'll still be on the right for you guys". What? There were a lot of people on our side, including kids, and older people that couldn't safely navigate to the right side. I mean, my friend and I didn't feel super safe, and we're in our 20's. We spent the entire trip on our tippie-toes trying to get a glimpse over the crowd, whlie the right side had a fantastic show (even TWO breachings which I would've died to really see). Every single time a whale came to our side, they'd turn the boat so they were on the right. We weren't the only ones feeling a bit slighted, many people were vocally upset that our side was basically ignored. So whlie I still recommend you use them, I hope that you pick the right side the whales will be on, or you might be out of luck. Otherwise the crew is great! Hope I get to go again this summer and see the mighty Blues!

I would not recommend this trip unless you are a very good sailor. I do not normally get sea sick, but felt very uncomfortable on this trip. We did get good views of humpbacks though.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful trip out on the bay. The Princess is so spacious and stable in the water and what a day we had watching so many Humpbacks lunge and surface feed. It was such a great experience.

Whalewatching excursion was incredible. Have never seen so many whales! We were amazed how close a couple of them came to our boat. My daughter did get seasick so enjoyed about 1/2 of the cruise, but other than that we all had a good time. Emphasize wearing very warm clothes .. wish we had brought gloves as well and taking motion sickness pills for the entire family just in case.

Awe-inspiring! It was the best we've been on. We went last year at this time and it was a lot of fun. This year was sooooo much better. Everyone was fantastic on the boat and when we checked in. My family and I are going to make this a yearly event. Last year my husband and I were scheduled to whale watch but had to leave because my grandfather died. We brought our 3 kids the following weekend and had a wonderful time. This year was even more enjoyable because we saw way more whales. Our experience was so great we are recommending your tours to all of our friends. Hope to see you next year!!!!

Having read the reviews on line we thought we couldn't possibly be as lucky. But after a very short time our first whale was spotted and it was a blue - unbelievable! I remember wondering at a model of the blue whale in the Natural History museum in London as a child and so to see one in reality was amazing. We then saw another blue and a calf as well as several humpbacks. On our trip we also saw dolphins, black albatross and sea otters. The crew were friendly and helpful and the narrative informative. An excellent tour!

This was my first whale watching venture and it turned out to be absolutely wonderful. We were contentdly watching whales breach and tails rise and disappear all around us. However, the most spectacular moment happened when for some reason I looked down and wondered what the white thing under the boat was - OMG, it was a humpback swimming just under the boat and then it breached right beside the boat. There are no words to describe our sense of awe and sheer joy!!! If that had been the one and only whale we saw on the entire trip, it would have made the entire adventure worth it.

We had a wonderful morning watch, saw Blues, Humpbacks, Minkes, dolphins, and sea lions. The naturalist was very informative with a sense of humor too, which makes for a nice trip.

What any amazing trip. The water was choppy but the crew was very attentive and helpful. The naturalist was great at giving lots of details as to what we were seeing and made herself available for questions.

Es war eine super Zeit fürs Whalewatching: Es waren so viele in der Bucht (am Blas zu erkennen). Sie zeigen sich kurz und natürlich nur teilweise - aber das immer wieder. Hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht.

I had a great time and saw many whales. I highly recommend this trip. The captian was very knowedgeable and the crew was very accommodating.

We had great time and saw may blue whales and humpback whales. The wind was rough and cold but we came prepared with glove, layers, earmuffs. Definitely glad we took our motion sickness meds as many people did not and then they suffered..yuck! We had a very enjoyable time and would recommend it to others as long as they come prepared.
