| Highly recommend this group. They were professional, fun and easy going. Our guide was educated, polite and available to answer any questions. Got to see a mom and calf humpback duo that were very playful. Well worth it! | ||||||

| We were initially disappointed since we paid top dollar for the big, deluxe, newer vessel, and when we showed up were told that boat was out being serviced. The boat we were placed on was about half the size, and definitely not new. However, the trip was really very good. We saw several whales from a distance. Nothing up close except several dolphins which were a lot of fun to watch. The narrator/marine biologist was excellent, and the whole crew was friendly, helpful, and very good-natured. Interestingly enough, when we were pulling back into port, we noticed the originally advertised PRINCESS was docked a few slips over. It appears that during slower times they take the smaller one out to save on expenses. Overall, had we not expected a different vessel, we would have been completely thrilled by the whole thing. | ||||||

| Not sure we really should have been out on the rough sea. While we personally did not get sea sick, over half of the clients did. This did not make for a very pleasant viewing of the sea life, as so many of the passengers were hanging over the railings the majority of the trip. Crew spent most of its time cleaning up around us. Taking photos was challenging as one had to hang on tightly and still try to watch for those passengers not quite making it over the railing. | ||||||

| To tell you the truth, I didn't think the boat ride was going to be as rough as it was but other than being sea sick or scared I was really excited. It felt like an adventure! Me and my friend stood at the front of the boat on the right side and that is the side all of the whales and dolphins were seen the best at. The only part of the boat ride I started feeling light headed was when we were completely stopped and checking out the whales. Me and my friend didn't take any medication for sea sickness and our trick to not getting sick was to focus on the horizon and anything in front of us...which is why we stood right in the front. This trip is suitable for adults and teenagers but be careful about bringing your children if they're under 10 because a lot of them ended up throwing up and being sick most of the trip :( Overall though, this trip was really worth it and I had a blast. The Naturalist that was speaking and informing everyone about the animals was very knowledgeable and friendly, as well as the Captain, etc. Cool friend or family outing, worth every penny that I spent on the tickets!!! :) | ||||||

Fantastic Crew and fun time... The Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise |

| I enjoyed being on the Princess Whale Watching cruise a lot. The crew (2 very active gentlemen were very accommodating to the cruise guest) and were awesome! Saw some whales, BUT I was very distracted by the very ill guests that were on board. Lots of upset stomachs and the odor was horrible. I think a vomiting bag, as provided in airplanes (or similar), would be a great idea. Perhaps some PRE warning about sea sickness and measures for cruise guest should be CLEARLY made known. I'd go again on the cruise, but more prepared! Thank for a fun time anyway. | ||||||

| The crew was polite and informative but we chose to go on our scheduled time without asking about rescheduling even though there were 16' swells. More people got sick on our trip than did not. As a person who has time on small boats in the ocean I must say the Captain was great and did his best to minimize the effects of the weather. | ||||||

| Tour biologist was interesting, well informed. Boat captain was skilled in keeping the boat stable and close to the whales. Weather Oct. 19, 2007 was perfect - clear skies, gentle swells. | ||||||

| My husband and I really enjoyed our whale watching cruise. First of all, allow yourself some time to check out the warf area. It's really quaint. There are great shops and plenty of restaurants to choose from if you're hungry. When we first arrived, we were a little dismayed because there were about 50 junior high students taking the same cruise. The Captain assured us that we (all the adults) would be let on board first to claim our spots and then he would let the kids on. They were all sweet kids who were very excited at first and then unfortunately a large number of them got a little queasy and were very quiet for the rest of the trip. The weather was great that day, however, it's smart to dress more warmly than you think you'll need. The wind is chilly especially on the ears! Our guide was very energetic and very informative. We learned alot about sea life and birds as well! Our cruise lucked out because we were able to find 5 whales including one that was quite rare. Our boat communicated with other boats in the area who were also looking for whales so we were all working together to find them. The boat rocks quite a bit so don't plan on bringing an elaborate lunch. They serve snacks ie; popcorn etc. so if you're hungry they have something to tide you over. I would recommend this cruise for older kids, adults, couples etc. It takes some patience to find the whales so smaller children might get bored. All in all, it's a great experience for people who are looking for something unique to do on vacation. | ||||||

| I can't say enough about the owner and crew of The Princess Monterey Whale Watching. They were awesome with us and our kids. The trip itself was everything and more then what we wanted. Within 5 minutes of leaving the dock, we ran into a HUGE pod of dolphins. We got amazing pictures and that made the trip worth it but that was just the start. We later found a few humpback whales out playing and even had some breaching no more then 100 yards from the boat. We had such a great view that the captain even let us stay out a bit longer then normal. This trip was worth every penny and I would recommend them to anybody. Thanks for the great trip! | Detailing the whereabouts of the pick up point would have been really useful. I was in Monterey for the first time without a car. I needed to know that I could walk to the boat, or if I'd have to get a taxi, and how long it would take - before I spent my money. I took a chance and the boat turned out to be 5 mins walk from my hotel. The whale watching shop had binoculars for hire. I took some but didn't need them. They also had some sea sickness tablets which I didn't buy and didn't need. There were a couple of people on the boat that probably should have bought some. I'm glad I took the chance. The trip was really great. The guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and funny. The advice about positions on the boat where it would be more steady was appreciated and I picked a position mid way along the port side. I was surprised how cold it was out on the sea. You need to dress really warmly even though it was pleasantly warm on land. There was plenty of room to move around the boat to stay in the sun. I didn't feel the need to go inside but I understand that there were hot and cold drinks, etc. I saw sealions (in the harbour), dolphins, an albatross, another bird which I can't remember (the one that spits blood from its eyes), loads of jelly fish and, of course whales. The first time I'd seen any of these in the wild. The trip lasted longer than the two and a half hours I was expecting - more like four hours - because we spent time watching a whale that turned out to be unpredictable and elusive so we travelled further to find more. The guides were determined that we would get a better sighting than the single whale provided. The boat was comfortable, well built, powerful and gave a welcome feeling of safety. If I ever get to go to Monterey again then I'll be back whale watching at the earliest opportunity. | ||||||

Bad business The Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise |

| The ship and facilities were fine. The choice to take people out when the weather was as bad as it was was irresponsible. Everyone in my party and many others were sick. The boat was rocking so hard that I fell down and my friend feel twice. Each time because we were trying to get to the back of the boat to throw up. Only after falling down did they realize they had to stop the boat for us to move. We should have taken our cue from the other tour groups that had closed down. That was dangerous and I can speak well of a group that would that that kind of change with peoples lives. Linda Griffin | ||||||
