Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

Enjoyed the tour but was very disappointed that we didn't encounter a single whale. Saw dolphins, squid, sea lions and otters. No whales!

After watching the whales from 100 yards or so away, they surprised us by popping up right beside our boat and swimming along with it. Even the workers on the boat were surprised. Really cool! The crew were very knowleagable and helpful.

The information provided by the guide make the trip more pleasure and very informative. It was a nice activity that all of member of my family enjoy it.

We booked the 10 am tour; knowing that the "captain report" showed that they had been seeing just a few whales in the previous days. We did see a pair of whales, which was probably appropriate for the season. All of the boats were following the same whales, and I believe that Princess Monterey has the largest, most stabilized boats. We were on the Greatland, which had a nice upper deck, with access for an additional charge. But, it made it easy to go from side to side to watch the whales.

Seeing sealife in the wild was a great adventure.

There is a heated cabin on this boat, and that sounded like a good idea. Because the weather was so nice on the day we went everyone was outside. The naturalist did a good job, and we appreciated her information and enthusiasm. It was nice, too, that she walked around the boat visitung and answering questions on the way back to port

We had a great time and saw some amazing animals.

It took way longer than the 2.5 hours advertised but I can't fault them for wanting to make sure we had the best experience. The guide was extremely knowledgeable (if not too loud and enthusiastic at time). We saw dolphins and got a lot of information which was helpful, then drove for quite a while, too far really, but then we saw orcas! Watching the killer whales frolic was well worth the extra time. It's nice to know they wanted us to have a good experience. We paid extra to be on the top which was worth the money.

It was a fun morning trip. Saw some dolphins and the crew was really good about getting us down the bay to see killer whales as well. (They didn't have to do that as the tour time was up, but they made sure that we got to see something.) Good biologist on board as well. Didn't talk non-stop and provided really interesting information.

Even though we only saw a pod od dolfins, no whales, the trip was a wonderful experience. We will definitely try again next time we are in Monterey.

We actually saw a bluewhale! We had hopes for maybe a humpback but we really hit the jackpot. Bring an extra sweater cause its colder than in the docks.

I had a great time on the Princess boat. The narrator was very knowledgable and friendly and the boat wasn't too crowded. The weather was beautiful and we experienced a fantastic group of Risso dolphins. Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. I was under the impression that we'd get a voucher if we didn't, though since we saw dolphins, I didn't receive a voucher. I am not upset at them about this though. I had a great time, loved what I did see and will be back. Hopefully my group will get lucky and see a whale next time!

Boat was nice and clean, very friendly staff from check in to end of tour. Left e-tickets in car and counter guy let me go on computer and print the up. Great!!! Naturalist was very informative and funny. Didn't see any whales but did see dolphins. Counter person said if no dolphins or whales are spotted you get a return ticket good for a year. Pretty impressive offer. Did talk to someone who did this. No problem. Remember whales are animals, its a crap shoot if you see them. Overall very happy.

Whales were spotted each day for the 8 days leading up to my trip. I did not see any whales or dolphins. The most exciting thing I saw was a jellyfish and otter. I had been looking forward to this trip for months, and as I live in Philadelphia, it's unlikely that I will be in Monterey in the future to cash in on my voucher to ride again. Highly disappointing trip.
