A once in a lifetime activity

The adventure of going out to watch whales was exciting. I had never seen whales in an ocean before so this was a first. I was hoping we could have gotten closer to the whales, but it still was exciting to see them where they were. Most of the narration was good, but it got a bit tedious at times. The boat was very nice, also.

Company does a good job of running the cruise. Friendly and helpful staff. Would do it again.

The seas were relatively calm and visibility good. The crew was attentive and the naturalist knowledgeable. Saw Blues, Humpbacks, dolphins and an Albatross. I would go again on this boat.

Good whale sightings, cooperative weather and seas made for a fine trip. Plenty of Humpbacks and 3 Blues, what more could you ask for? Boat captain was very good as well.

The conditions were excellent- calm seas, warm weather and lots of whales. This boat got as good a look at the whales as any of the others out there. The boat was well kept. I don't know how good this trip would be if the conditions (out of their control) were not as good.

we saw the whales and dolphins

The trip was good. It was a lot of fun and amazing to watch the whales. The boat took us 45 min out in the bay. The boat stopped and slowly moved around to give us the best view of the whales and dolphins, indicating the whales locations and providing information about the whales their behavior. After just over 1 hour, we headed back to Monterey. It is very important to remember that if you are sea sick and motion sickness, you will suffer if you don't take actions to control it. When the boat stands still and it is moved by the waves, it is the worst moment. I saw people with the bracelet for motion sickness...and they got sick. We took a "pill" to help us and we were fine. If you don't take something, it will ruine the trip and you won't enjoy it. The other element to consider, whales can be far away and you will see the tale, back and sometimes jumping from the water, 80% of their body will be under water. If you take pictures you will need a long lens or binnacles. Though the experience of watching these giant mammals is amazing also if you end up watching 20% of their body. I highly recommend the trip, you will not see whales in an aquarium.

Crew was professional , informative and knew what to do and where to go for the whales. The boat was somewhat uncomfortable and not ship-shape on deck. It was standing room only for many customers unless you went inside which wasn't advisable due to sea-sickness.

Better than I had hoped (saw a blue whale!)

I found this outfit using just an internet search engine. It was easy to book, easy to print the tickets and easy to follow directions. We saw a HUGE blue whale! One of the rarest creatures on earth, very close to the boat for a l-o-n-g time. Wonderful! I have done whale watching in Hawaii in Feb - when things are really active - and this compared very well. While not a tropical island, and the whales were not as 'active' due to the time of year (July/August), the staff was great - the ship was in good condition - and we saw more than I had hoped we would. Definitely would recommend it. Then everyone kind'a got queasy - not "sick", but queasy... It was so funny - I was so excited and miserable at the same time. But hey, I'm a parent of two teenage boys. It isn't the first time I have experienced that!

We had a wonderful time on this boat. The people were fabulous and knowledgeable and the captain let us stay out 30 min longer than was scheduled so we could get the full experience of the whales!

I went with my boyfriend and parents because we had heard that there had been a lot of whales in the area. We were not disappointed! We saw otters, seals, sea lions, a minke whale, dolphins, humpback whales, and a blue whale! It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen up close. At one point the boat was about 15 yard away from a pod of humpbacks. If the conditions are good, I wholeheartedly recommend going. The crew was great and got us right alongside the whales and was very informative.

We saw at least 16 hump back whales, one blue whale and schools of seals and dolphins!!! We were told that there was an exceptional amount of sea life in the Monterey waters right now---August 2010 and they were right!!!

Great trip but needed more advice on seasickness.

The boat and crew were very good. The experience of seeing so many whales and dolphins was wonderful. Actually, I was most impressed with seeing the very large school or more than 100 northern right whale dolphins leaping out of the water in unison. One serious note. My wife and I both believe that you and the boat captain should insist that people plan on taking some kind of anti-motion sickness pills unless they know they do not get sea sick. The swells were large and the boat both rolled and rocked. I got sick but avoided heaving, but many others got sick over the side of the boat, which the crew cleaned up immediately and thoroughly. Just straight forward info on the likelihood of getting sick would help lots of folks. I will go again probably on the same boat, but I will be taking Bonine, which my wife took and did not get sick at all.

We saw quite a few whales and dolphins. The ride was a bit rough but it's well worthwhile.
