This was one of several gifts to my wife for out 30th wedding anniversary. Although she lived for 20 years in San Jose, she never visited Monterey for whale watching. She was very pleased. I selected this vendor based on the size of the ship, and it was all that I expected. I would recommend it to anyone interested.
Rating: 4 would take the trip again

trip need to be longer - not enough time allowed to veiw the whales. Just as we found the second whales (had only about 5 min to view), we had to return back to dock. Had a great time!!!!!

The naturalist that was with us on the trip was very knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed her job very much, which made the trip more enjoyable. While weather and the types of animals you will see are variable, on this specific trip we saw a good variety of animals and enjoyed good weather. I would recommend this company to others looking for a good whale watching trip. The price is higher than some of its competitors, but you will likely get your money's worth from the trip.

When I booked this boat I thought we would have a good time and maybe see a few things. But when we went in September 2007 we saw Three Humpbacks (1 was a baby) and a pretty good number of dolphins. The boat is pretty good sized. There is an inside cabin area with booths and seating on the deck. There were lots of people on our trip but there was still plenty of room on the boat. In our party there were 2 people over 65 (one stayed in the cabin because of the cold wind), 2 people in the 40s, 2 people in 30s, and 2 children. We all had a great time.

My husband and I were on our 20th wedding anniversary vacation. What a ride! The boat ride out was very exciting. I'd say more fun than a rollercoaster. We took everyones advice, dress warm, and by all means take dramamene! If you don't the ride won't be fun. We saw a mother whale and her calf, seals, dolphines and one sea otter. Because the crew is very careful not to disturb the animals in their own habitate we did not get very close. The naturalist kept us well informed and was a joy to listen to.

My wife and I had tickets for Tuesday 09/04/07 and tit urned out to be very choppy. Still went out, but did not see any whales, so received a rain check. Wednesday 09/05/07turned out to be beautiful, so my wife and I decided to try again. Had a real smooth trip out and was tracking a mother and baby. Caught up with them about 8 miles out and had a great view. Captain stayed with them for about a good 45 minutes. Seen hundreds of California sea lions feeding in tremendous groups, and jumping all over the place. Many birds but no other fish, but did see a few sea otters. The whales were really moving and feeding. Had a great fluke and tail sighting, and captured some fantastic pictures. The naturalist (Duane) was very exciting to listen too and made the trip very enjoyable. The vessels were both very well kept and just an overall great experience. Planning a trip to Farallon Islande very soon. Well worth the money and would do it again in a minute. Great to see such beauty and experience nature up close. Thanks for a great time.

Unfortunately, on this trip the whales refused to cooperate and we were unable to see any. We did see lots of sea lions and one large bola bola fish. Because we saw no whales, we were offered a rain check that can be used at anytime, even that very afternoon, but our schedule did not allow us to try again. The boat was the smaller of the two boats that they advertised. The people were nice and the guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

My family took this trip the day after our son's wedding and had a great time. It was a good addition to our reunion weekend. Even the bride and groom joined us!! We saw a baby humpback whale breaching to its heart's content. Even with the choppy seas that day we had a great time and would take this trip again.

After 1.5 hours on the boat, I was ready to get off along with other passengers on the boat. They should cut down on the time spent on the boat 2.5 - 3 hours is too long for ANYONE! It is a very rough ride and seems like the boat is going to tip over at some points. Also, plan on taking motion sickness pills, you will need them. At least 10-20 people threw up and looked like they were going to pass out, which tainted the experience a bit. Everyone on the boat should be handed a life jacket before boarding. I would have felt better had I had a life jacket on. Overall, I would not recommend this adventure in Monterey. I am a business owner and have these suggesstions to the boat owners. 1. When boarding everyone should be provide with a life jacket. 2. When boarding people should be provided with a motion sickness pill (optional) 3. Time on boat should be no more than 1.5 hours. 4. Buy a commercial boat. 5. Hire friendly and courteous staff

While we had perfect weather and a fairly smooth boat ride, our trip was a very disappointing one. The only animals spotted were dolphins and an albatross. I knew going in that there was no guarantee of seeing whales, but having traveled 3000 miles I was really looking forward to this cruise. I am not sure if I will try another if I ever get back to Monterey.

My sister and I get away every year to enjoy ourselves without any children, husbands or work issues. Its part of our lifes journey before we get too old to remember one another or aren't able to actually get around. This trip is a celebration of life and love between sisters. There are only 2 of us left out of 4. This boat ride was such an awesome part of our trip. We were hoping to be able to experience the wonders of the sea, however never did we expect to catch all of the wonderful sightings. On our way out there we were just sitting and enjoying the beauty of the ocean and all of the seals and birds. When we were surprised by a group of dolphins swimming along side of the boat and flipping up out of the water. It was almost as if they were playing with us. They would jump way up and dive and leap. Oh we were just giggling like a couple of little girls. It was exciting. And it lasted for some time. The captain stopped the boat so that we could just watch them and take our pictures. After a while we were back at watching the ocean, and keeping our eyes perked for the large spout. We were informed that the other tour company had spotted 3 killer whales. So we took off towards the direction of the killer whales and to our surprise there they were, three of them to be exact. And a baby one as well. It was breathless. To be so close and to see such life. Again of course we got the giggles from the excitement. The captain once again stayed close enough for our pictures and to just watch in awe. I would most certainly recommend this trip to anyone who loves nature, animals or just life itself. We were welcomed and cared for in the most professional manner. I did take their advise and dress in layers, as it was warm and sunny on the beach, however a bit chilly further out. My advise would be to read all of the online literate and use the information well. Some didn't dress so warm and choose to stay inside while all of us were outside watching and giggling like little kids. We are going to go again next next. Thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your tour was awesome!!
