Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

Just be sure that you do not get sea sick

My girlfriend and I had a great time on the Princess Monterey. The staff was great and accomodating. We left on time and went about 14 miles out on the bay. If was heavily overcast and cold out on the open water. We went at the end of November. We saw 3 Humbacks and we got some good pictures. Weather could have been better but no one has control over that. The boat had bathrooms and light snacks for purchase. I suggest bringing something to drink or snack on as our trip was 3.5 hours long.

We really enjoyed this trip, and hope to come back to Monterey and repeat this activity. It was a lot of fun.

They guaranteed whales and they weren't lying! With excellent narration. Much recommended!

This was the best trip I ever had, we had 2 Humpback whales that liked our boat and played by it. I have been whale watching at least 20 times this was the closest and most entertaining. My boyfriend had never been, he hit the jackpot on his first time. unbelievable.

We left Monterey on the most perfect of Californian November days... the sea was calm and the sun shone in a blue sky. What more could we ask for? Well whatever it was we got it .. we spent most of the trip stationary in the middle of the bay with 2 Humpback whales giving us a spectacular show beside and under our boat. They were so close at times it was tempting to lean over the side and stroke them. It was a wonderful way to appreciate their size, and beauty ( the only downside being the smell when they exhaled and covered us with water!!! A smell that none of us will forget!) I have only lived in the States for 6 years and had many breathtaking sights but I think this one was the best. Thank you for making my day so special.

Very friendly staff. All our needs were met from the time we boarded the boat till we returned. Very nice day we left around 10 am and returned around 1:30 pm . The whales came around the boat about 11 am or so. We got so close if we reached over we could have touched them. There were two out of a group of about 6 in the area. they were under and alongside the boat. It was the most amazing trip. The Marine Biologist was very informing. The 25 or so persons on the boat all were able to get up close and personal. I would recommend Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruise to all and I have. Don Palm Desert Ca.

This far exceeded my expectations. I was hoping to simply see some whales at a range of about 100 yards away. Instead they came right up to the ship and were even slightly lifting it out of the water. Fantastic!!!

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. An absolutely incredible experience!

Good whale watching trip. Lots of Humpbacks! The Captain was respectful of the whales and helped everyone enjoy the trip. Cost is reasonable, the boat was comfortable.

It was our pleasure to be on board the Pacific Explorer boat to watch different kinds of Whale in Monterey bay. Late October and early November are goodweather months to watch Whales and other sea animals

11/14/08 ... We saw lots of California Sea Lions, a few harbor seals, some adorable up-close sea otters (eating crabs) .... all were very delightful and photogenic. Some nice sea birds, too (pelicans, cormorants, terns and gulls). Once we got to the feeding site (approximately 1 hour), we saw at least seven humpback whales -- some right next to the boat. Lots of spouts, backs, and tails!!! It was simply delightful. Be sure and dress in layers and warmly ... even though it was 75 degrees and sunny, it was very cold in the wind and the spray. Also, be prepared with meds and sour candies for some motion sickness -- the water/wind was choppy and some tummy discomfort was pretty common. Also, sunglasses and/or a hat/visor really can help with the glare. Boat staff was competent, professional, courteous. Boat facilities were just fine. (You may want to take your own snacks.) Boat is really NOT set up for a stroller or infants .... so leave them at home.

Good tour, took about 1 hour 15 mins to get out to where the whales were which left only 30 minutes for viewing before we had to return. But ship and crew were great and got us up close to the whales. would recommend to those with only a short time available to dedicate to a whale watching cruise.

The Captain seemed very knowledgeable about the whales and other sea life we saw. The crew was very helpful.
