Princess Monterey Whale Watching Cruises

Having never been in the waters off the West Coast, my daughter and I took this trip. It was three hours and she got seasick. They have candies on board that helped. Otherwise, the trip was nice. We saw several whales but the ship is so crowded it was difficult to get good views. The crew insisted that everyone must hang on to the handrail and to have the entire ship hanging on to one side of the ship made for some very crowded conditions. When the ship is traveling to locate the whales there are not enough places for everyone to sit so be prepared to stand a while, too. We went mid-June and it was freezing so take them seriously when they say the temperatures drop 10 to 15 degrees out on the water.

This was a GREAT date with so many exciting sightings! The staff was so friendly and really helped to make the event a special one. The crew is very determined to find whales which made it so exciting. The one thing I feel should be advised more about it sea sickness... Although the crew is so sweet and is constantly checking on people and cleaning up after everyone, it is so easy to get sea sick while the boat is idling for long periods of time. TAKE YOUR DRAMAMINE PEOPLE!!! About half way through the trip, people had to stop watching the whales and head to the back of the boat where all of the sick people go... icky! I think there should be many more warnings to everyone about how common this is each trip. All that aside, this really was a great experience with a very knowledgeable crew. We had a really great time

This is definitely a pleasant way to spend some time in Monterey! I took my girlfriend out on a morning trip and we had a great time - we enjoyed being on the boat and seeing Monterey and the peninsula from out at sea. And of course, there were the whales... we were lucky enough to see some Humpback and Killer whales, who were utterly enchanting. We throughly enjoyed the whole experience!

We spent a little over an hour getting to an area where we saw 2 humpback whales. Spent approximately 20 minutes watching the 2 whales, then spent another 20 minutes going to another area where 2 killer whales were. Spent approximately 20 minutes there before having to head back to the harbor. I would not do this again. Too much time traveling and not enough time with the whales.

My friend and I had a fabulous experience. We were fortunate to witness the pursuit and capture of a sea lion by a female orca as well as the follow up participation by the male. At extremely close range!! Right by the boat. It was an amazing gift. My friend and I took dramamine before the trip so we did not get seasick. There were several who did get sick so I'd recommend taking something before you board. No reason to miss out on all the fun!!! And dress warmly. There's a reason they recommend layers. It's cooool out there especially in the morning when we went! Enjoy!

The trip itself was wonderful. We were able to see a humpback whale, dolphins and killer whales- which was the highlight of the trip! We actually saw a killer whale throw a seal 10 feet in the air and then pull it down to eat it. It was amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I only wish I had been able to get a picture of it. The seas were very rough this day, even though they said the waves were "medium". Several people got sick off of the back of the boat so the 3 hour trip was a little rough. But the service was great. The employees on the boat were fantastic. I would definitely recommend!

What a great trip out from Monterey to see Hump Back Whales. Thoroughly recommend this trip, just be sure to take the time to talk to Monty, he`s a mine of info.

My family and I had a wonderful time!The crew were awesome and the trip was lots of fun!

It was awesome. We saw some dolphins and humpback whales. The humpback whales were very close to our ship. We got good information about the life of the sea. It was very windy at that day, so we had big waves and a lot of the people became motion sickness, but the crew at the boat did a good job and had good tipps against it. It was a great experience, but to see it ne time in my life is enough.

We were a mixed group of about 25-30 people. Many on our boat got seasick. I think Princess Monterey Whale Watching could have given us a better idea of what we were in for. They did indicate there was a possibility to get seasick, but we had no idea just how high the swells would be that day and how rough the waters were. On returning to the shore, comments I heard from other passengers were that they were as unprepared by the roughness of the water as we were. I am from the Texas coast and these waters, once we got just a little from the shore, completely surprised me! I feel like a better warning of the conditions would have been fair.

THE captain gives so much effort to watching whales........we did see two killerwhales! We were at sea over 3hours............

worth your time and money if you have not seen whales up close before, you will see other wildlife as well.

On our trip we were able to see a Humpback whale and her calf perform for us. They were very interested in our boat. And may I point out our boat only, even though there were 2 other boats out there. She kept coming back to check us out. And at one point breached right below the port side of the boat. Once we left her territory and went further out into the ocean we saw a pod of dolphins that chased our boat around. I do wish we had been able to see more whales, but we had quite a good show anyways.

We saw a mom & baby whale-was great-the woman that spoke during our tour on 6-13 was great. We were very happy with our ride.

We did the tour 6/12/2012. The marine biologist on board was very informative. Our only issue (which was not the tours fault) was I and one of my children were seasick (even after Dramamine). And they said it was a fairly smooth day!
