I thought the naturalist was excellent, very enthusiastic, bubbly, nice, informative, and generally a plus to the tour. Her microphone should be looked at as it was crackly at times and there were dead spots in her speaking. I would have loved to have gone upstairs to have the view of both sides of the boat, but that's ok, I ended up being on the right side. We did see a few blows and I did get two pictures of a tail, although pretty far away, but that was fine too. I was under the impression whales were bigger than what we saw, either that or we saw small whales, about 30'. I was however, annoyed that a "tip" jar was put out. The trip wasn't all that cheap and then was implied to leave a tip on top of that. It wasn't like I was waited on or treated in any special way, it was just a ride on a boat and there were enough of us on the whole boat, I'm sure, to pay for the gas and time of the crew and then some. So, I found that unnecessary. The ticket man and lady in the shack were extremely nice but the boy in the boat selling drinks and things seemed rude. He was too busy eating and talking with his mouth open and I found that a bit unpleasant. Would I go again, probably!! I would love another chance at seeing more of the whales and maybe a glimpse of a dolphin or two, that weren't out when we were. Thank you so much as on the whole I enjoyed myself.

We were looking for a light adventure and that's what we got, a not so harsh 2.4hr sea trip worth every penny. We saw one whale & many dolphins, we might come back this summer for the Humpbacks with our kids. The crew was GREAT! Thanks,Phil Concord,Ca.

Our family's whale watching cruise aboard the Princess Monterey was enjoyable and very educational. The naturalist on board explained many things about the majesty of the gorgeous Monterey Bay and the many creatures which inhabit it or just pass through. The ship's captain worked hard so that we would be near enough to get a good look at the whales in the vicinity. This nice, large boat gave us an excellent ride, and the ones in our party who have experienced seasickness in the past came through with no problems at all. A fabulous trip enjoyed by all! Don't miss this one!

The new Princess boat is great. I am not seeing as many people sick. I do think that the smaller boats in our area had an advantage and were closer to the whales. I ask myself why is this? I would like to see if we can get closer as I am tempted to take a smaller boat if that could happen. I am aware that there are regulations and you have to stay within 100 yards? I didn't understand why all the other boats were so much closer? The biologist aboard is an asset. It really helps for newcomers. They also have an eye to spot whales quickly. They provide much needed information especially at the price charged for the trip. I do think the price is high and wonder if that is a factor with guest. I assume your guest would expect a great deal more for their money. I enjoy whale watching and always come back for more!

2/08 My husband and I went on the whale watching cruise and really had a great time. The Captain made a strong effort to find whales, and did succeed. He also doesn't like to crowd in with other boats and sought whales on his own. He was informative and gave good information. It was chilly, so it is good to bring gloves and a warm coat and hat, if you like. We saw a sea otter, no dolphins. We went away very happy as first time whale watchers. Great experience. The crew were very attentive, and took care of the passengers who became ill on board, and were very watchful of people at all times. Don't bother renting the binoculars, they are very cheap and don't work. Bring your own, or don't even bring any. You can see just fine without.

Even though the whales weren't initially visible, the captain made an effort to find them. The captain efforts afforded us sightings of several pods of whales. The captain also provided basic information about the types of whales, the particular whales that we would be viewing, and other pertinent information.

There is absolutely no way that the Captain and crew could state that we would see whales...It is not their fault that we didn't see anyj!!. The crew is very accommodating and helpful. We also received "Rain Checks" for another tour someday... Thank you to all the crew.....

I am a 29 mother of 2 i took my girls and a cousin on the trip and think that it is an experience that everyone should try at least once, As for me I would like to take my children who are 6 & 8 when they are a little older. They only got to see the whales once but they enjoyed themselves. And thats what matters I drove up from fresno and for our family the drive was worth it and repeatable for future family activities.

I booked the cruise with low expectations, as I had been on a whale watching cruise in Alaska once and the closest we got to seeing a whale was the tip of a humpback that was a good 500 yards away. Happily, my low expectations were blown out of the water, as we were able to watch several whales at close range. We also saw a large pod of dolphins (20+), got up close to the sea lions in the harbor and saw a couple of adorable sea otters. It was well worth the price of admission.

We had a great time! The naturalist on the boat was very knowledgable and fun. Great for young kids - mine are 5 and 6. Make sure to bring sunscreen and warm clothes.

Great tour - the best in Moneterey! Friendly service with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. Our tour's captain had many years of experience and a wonderful reputation there in Monterey too. Highly recommend.

Beatiful weather (doubt that they had anything to do with that, but we were blessed!), great staff (very interactive, had much to say about not only the marine life, but the history and geography of the area)...and what can I say- we saw whales so it doesn't get much better than that, does it? Highly recommend because we could all use some time to just "stop and relax"....do it.

We recently took a whale watching cruise with our family and did see a couple gray whales from a distance. I was disappointed that we didn't see any other wildlife like it listed on the website. There were reported listings of various dolphins and other whales on most all of the days prior to our cruise, but we only saw two whales in the three hour cruise. I know there isn't anything Princess can do, but I was disappointed none the less. Also, when we arrived at the wharf, I found that we could have taken a cruise on another line for a total of $75 less, which added to my disappointment.
