Pacific Explorer Whale Watching Cruise

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience! Whale watching was always something I wanted to do but never was able to afford the opportunity or had the financial means to do so. Having just received a clear report that I was cancer free, my beloved husband surprised me with this life long dream. To be able to see a humpback whale and her calf was amazing. The gentleman at the front desk was very professional and nice and our guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you for such a wonderful day. We learned every outing is new and we can't wait to come back and have another adventure.

WE loved the naration as we traveled through the bay. Seeing jellyfish, Risso dolphins and humpback whales in the wild was thrilling. The mother and baby Humpback were just 100 yards off the side of the boat and traveled with us for about 1/2 hour before we had to leave them. Truly a thrilling experience that I would recommend to people of all ages. The boat was very smooth the day we were out.

"Whale watching" easily converts to "boat ride"

Although the program boasts a 99% chance of seeing at least one whale, oftentimes they're sighted from so far away that they're nothing but dark silhouettes interrupting the endless blue sea. Our trip, estimated from 2.5 - 3 hours long, went for 3.5 hours because the whales/ dolphins were nowhere to be seen, and the captain decided to go out an extra distance to look for them. While that was considerate and we did end up seeing 2-3 humpbacks from a very far distance, the extra .5 - 1 hour cut into the rest of our touring plans. As a person who gets motion sickness, it was a difficult decision to step onto a boat in the first place - added with unfortunately scarce sightings and 15 miles out to sea - the trip didn't feel $80 worthwhile.

MY DAUGHTER WANTED TO GO WHALE WATCHING FOR HER 25TH BIRTHDAY IN MONTEREY, CA. THAT MORNING MONTEREY WAS VERY FOGGY & COLD. THE MAN, WHO WE CHECKED IN WITH WAS NOT SURE (AS THEY DON'T GUARENTEE) WE WOULD SEE A WHALE. HE WAS SURE FOR DOLPHINS BUT NOT FOR THE WHALE. WE ALL COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE ELATED BECAUSE WE SAW FROM A DISTANCE BLUE WHALE, & IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! ON THE WAY BACK, WE ALSO SAW BLUE DOLPHIN. WHAT A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY IT WAS FOR MY DAUGHTER. CAN'T WAIT TO GO OUT IN THE SUMMER WITH MY MOTHER IN LAW FROM GEORGIA WHEN SHE COMES OUT FOR THE SUMMER. THANK YOU TO THE STAFF AS WELL. WELL WORTH THE PRICE. BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL, ANNETTE MYERS

Fun day trip. Saw 2 whales and dolphins. Freezing, but I had an amazing time. Friend not so much. Don't eat before you get on the boat!

I had a good experience over all. We saw a couple of whales during the 1:30 tour, we were told that the morning tour usually has better sightings. A few people got sea sick because it was a bumpy ride. I would suggest taking a hooded sweater and maybe some gloves because it was really cold.

We went in a group and had fun. Initially I was so worried some of us would puke on the boat. We took the motion sickness pil an hour before departure. Apparently, the sea was quite calm and none of the passengers puke. We took the 9am trip with Princess Monterey. It was pretty foggy and windy at first. Then the fog cleared off. We managed to see some humpback whales and blue whales, but not the dolphin or Orca. We were probably 100 feet away from them. There was once the blue whale came so close to our boat! We saw some clips from youtube where the whales came so close to their boat and stay for a while. We just don't have the luck. :( Overall, it's still an amazing experience if you have never done it before.

The naturalist was extremely knowledgable and enthusiastic. We saw three blue whales, a pair of humpback whales, a tufted puffin, two black-footed albatross and the wonderful sea lions and harbor seals.

Most of the trip was getting to and from our destination. Not enough time to really see anything.

Very good trip, but...

The only problem we could mention - it was a bit too short. The ship has left the whale area when the whales were still visible very well, and we would have liked to stay there for about 15-30 minutes more.

A real life mini adventure that my visiting relatives really enjoyed. Choppy waves and massive mammals had both children and adults yelling with excitement.

Nice boat , spacious and comfortable. The boat trip in Monterey Bay would be worth doing by itself and of course there are opportunities for impressive sightings of whales. We hope to have the opportunity to do this again.

Excellent enjoyable trip. Saw both blue and humpback whales. Fine day. No-one we saw got sea-sick. Princess is fine large boat with both inside and outside seating, the latter all around the ship. Captain very experienced and explained everything. Certainly can recommend.
