Boring at first while your motoring around to find them. Took about 2 hrs to find them but man was it worth it. Beautiful creatures.

It was my first time whalewatching and was hoping to see something more like what's shown in your photo. Unfortunately the whales weren't cooperating so we were only able to see portions of their backs I assume, from a distance, and some blowing. I will definitely do it again though.

Spontaneously, enjoyably and exciting

It takes awhile to actually get to the destination so don't lose hope. At first, I thought the grey whales were disappointing but as we headed back, the hundreds of dolphins coming by was the highlight of the whole trip. The best time to actually go would be 10am. We went at the 9am. It was nice because the wind was calm to light but the fog was a downer. However, every experience is different and I'll like go again this summer!

Choppy Waters

This was our first whale watching trip. The crew was nice and the boat was very clean. About 1.5 hours into the trip, we saw two humpback whales and lots of dolphins. The water was very choppy and made it extremely hard to take any pictures. A vast majority of the passengers, including my wife, got very sick and were thankful when the boat was turned around to get back to land. A fellow passenger told me to look at the horizon and I would be fine. I wish the crew had told us that in the beginning. Over all, the company lived up to it's promise and showed us whales and dolphins. Not sure if I would go again on a boat of this size though.

Whale Watching Cruise

We saw hundreds of dolphins - maybe up to one thousand. When they all cascaded through the surf all around the boat it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen and never to be forgotten. We also saw two humpbacks, but they were pretty far off and we only got views of their spouts. When the front desk warns you that conditions are choppy, consider whether or not you are the type to be seasick. We went out on a windy, choppy day and the boat was really rolling up and down the waves. Maybe 50% of people on board were using the barf bags. The seasick kids were really having it bad. The trip is 3.5 hours and some were sick almost that whole time. We took dramamine and chewed ginger gum and none of us got sick. We loved it, but it was a terrible trip for the seasick.

Water was a little rough that day but we did see three whales. The naturalist was very informative and knowledgeable. The crew was great. We always enjoy going out on Princess Monterey Whale Watching tours.

Saw humpbacks and Pacific Gray dolphins

We followed a small pod of 3 humpbacks who put on a continuous show for us. They came very close and breached near the boat. This continued for on hour and probably went on far beyond our viewing. On the way back we saw a large pod of Pacific Grey dolphins. The guide was very knowledgeable and the captain obviously knew where to go and what to do to get the best views. Please note that it is cold out on the water. I recommend gloves and layers including a neck scarf. Also be aware that once you get out into the bay, the water is quite rough and the boat get tossed about. I saw several children and elderly people really struggling when the captain quickly turned the boat to get better views of the whales.

Whale's Watching Crusie with no Sight of a Whale
Mon, Aug 6, 12   10:00 AM BFowler Unspecified Unspecified Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We have been on a number of whale wathiching crusises before, some really great and others not as exciting with respect to the number of whales we watched. However the Princess Monterey broke the record for the worst kind of whale watch WITH NO WHALE IN SIGHT. Us and a number of other tourists thought we should get a part of our money back. So, if you are thinking of using them...THINK TWICE or be ready to TROW YOUR TIME AND MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.

Okay, but probably not worth$40

We did see one humpback whale breach the water several times, but that was about it. Apparently the captain also spotted a blue whale, but as they do not breach the surface, we couldn't see it. Although this was a unique and different experience, I'm not sure it was worth $40 per ticket. Perhaps half that would be more appropriate. Also, we did experience moderate sea-sickness by the end of the trip. I have never been seasick on a boat before, and the water was not overly choppy, but these vessels are rather small and rock/bob quite a bit. After 2+ hours of that, my stomach felt a little queezy.

This is the first time I've been on a whale watching cruise. We were able to follow two blue whales in the bay and it was a fantastic experience. I'm looking forward to sharing this trip with my husband! Highly recommended!!
