| This was a good comprehensive tour of the Monterey peninsula, including the Pebble beach property and Carmel. What makes it especially fun is the way the tour has prepared clips of some of the many Hollywood movies that were filmed in the area. And you get an idea of what has changed or stayed the same in the intervening years.
It's quite something to see Clint Eastwood walking down the steps to his car and finding Evelyn (Play Misty for Me) in the very spot you are looking at from the bus. The building and the steps are the same as they were in the movie. It's a bit different when you watch a clip of Marilyn Monroe leaving her shift at the cannery. The cannery building is gone, but you can still see the street and the wall on Cannery Row where the scene was filmed. Learn more about the famous beach scene in From Here to Eternity, or Elizabeth Taylor's riding in National Velvet. There are some newer movies too. Our 11 and 14-year-olds enjoyed seeing all the movie clips in between gorgeous views of the seashore and wildlife. |

| My wife and I enjoyed the tour very much. Doug was a gracious host, very knowledgeable. This was a great way to start a visit to Monterey because it familiarizes you with the area, the options, and the historical sites. |

| We were unable to do the tour last year as you were fully booked. This year we did, and loved it. It was the day beffore the tropical storm, so the ocean looked very scary and it was so windy but this added to the tour and the amazing views.
The juxtaposition of the film clips to the ride was so well planned and so many of the films were known to us. Doug took the tour and how fortunate we were we to have him!
Such a fascinatng and interesting afternoon and well worth the effort of driving to Monterey for the tour |

| We took the Saturday Movie Tour, 1pm -- The bus arrived on time and Doug, the owner, was our guide. He has a voice made for radio and he is very knowledgeable about the area, the movies and the connections that make this tour possible. We could have listened and toured all day with him. Doug is full of helpful hints and suggestions about things to do, became our camera man when we felt the urge for a Kodak Moment (and needed a photo of the two of us), and he clearly has a passion for the movies and local area. He is a people person for sure. He helped make our trip to Monterey and Carmel memorable.
As an aside, Doug was kind enough to run our tour even though there were only 6 people on board. Unrelated to Scenic Movie Tours, a bus broke down that was supposed to have brought in an additional 16 or so passengers to join us on the Scenic Movie Tour. So, in essence, we had a very exclusive tour. Doug was candid about the misfortune of the other travelers and was still willing to let the show go on. He is the type of person you would love to meet for luch or dinner to learn more about his experiences and stories. The tour was simply not enough --Hats off to Doug!
Bottom line, you will love this tour! This is not one of those dopey Duck Tour Adventures that you see in many cities. It will be better appreciated by teens and adults so don't drag you kids on board and expect them to sit and enjoy the tour. Again, it is not a Duck tour -- small children would likely spoil the tour for the rest of the bus in our opinion.
Do not hesitate for a moment to book yourself or your group for this event. It would also be a good idea to book this tour before you go sightseeing so that you have the benefit of the many tidbits about the area that you learn from Doug. Then, when you return to sightsee after the tour is over, you will have a better appreciation for what you are seeing and where you want to spend your time.

| My wife and I are long-time tourists of the Monterey Peninsula area; in fact, it is one of our favorite spots to "get away from it all" for a weekend or a short stay. I am always on the lookout for activities, events, and attractions that present us with things we have not done or experienced in the locale before. This time around, I found what I was looking for in the Scenic Movie Tour of Monterey. The Movie Tour is a nice little three-hour tour (not to sound too much like Gilligan's Island) combining some of the best sights of the Monterey Peninsula with the magic of the movies. If you are familiar with movies that are a little older (within the last 30-50 years) you may get a little more out of the tour, as some of the greatest and most featured movie scenes on the tour come from movies such as "A Summer Place", "Clash by Night", and of course, "Cannery Row". Nonetheless, there are definitely things to enjoy for people of all different ages--even if you've never seen a movie in your life! Again, this tour hits a great many high points of the Monterey peninsula; things people like to see when they come to the area, regardless of any Hollywood history. The charm of the movie tour is that it then adds in history, trivia, and the cinemagraphic magic that goes along with the various sights. Further, tourists get to see quite a few scenes from classic movies, and the guide ties them in to what is being seen outside the bus at the same time. The effect is similar to a Universal Studios tram tour with a kind of expanded outlook. The tour also makes three stops along 17-mile drive providing great photo-ops, and a chance to personalize the experience a little. My wife and I found it a wonderful way to enjoy the afternoon. The tour begins and ends at Portola Plaza, which provides for further opportunities to take in picturesque scenery, do some shopping, grab a bite, or even visit any of the three museums within short walking distance. Fisherman's Wharf at Monterey Harbor is not too far down the street from Portola Plaza opening up an even greater range of possibilities. Overall, I would unreservedly, highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the Monterey Peninsula, and looking for something a little different. |
