Monterey Movie Tour--fun and friendly

Really enjoyed the movie aspects of the tour, though not the non-movie tourist type information. The long stop (40 minutes) at Pebble Beach Resort was too long, for my tastes, but my companions enjoyed it. I would have liked even more movie site visits instead, and even more movie information, but what I saw was great. The tour guide (Doug) was very sweet and friendly, and kind to my elderly friends.

Great little tour!

My wife and I are long-time tourists of the Monterey Peninsula area; in fact, it is one of our favorite spots to "get away from it all" for a weekend or a short stay. I am always on the lookout for activities, events, and attractions that present us with things we have not done or experienced in the locale before. This time around, I found what I was looking for in the Scenic Movie Tour of Monterey. The Movie Tour is a nice little three-hour tour (not to sound too much like Gilligan's Island) combining some of the best sights of the Monterey Peninsula with the magic of the movies. If you are familiar with movies that are a little older (within the last 30-50 years) you may get a little more out of the tour, as some of the greatest and most featured movie scenes on the tour come from movies such as "A Summer Place", "Clash by Night", and of course, "Cannery Row". Nonetheless, there are definitely things to enjoy for people of all different ages--even if you've never seen a movie in your life! Again, this tour hits a great many high points of the Monterey peninsula; things people like to see when they come to the area, regardless of any Hollywood history. The charm of the movie tour is that it then adds in history, trivia, and the cinemagraphic magic that goes along with the various sights. Further, tourists get to see quite a few scenes from classic movies, and the guide ties them in to what is being seen outside the bus at the same time. The effect is similar to a Universal Studios tram tour with a kind of expanded outlook. The tour also makes three stops along 17-mile drive providing great photo-ops, and a chance to personalize the experience a little. My wife and I found it a wonderful way to enjoy the afternoon. The tour begins and ends at Portola Plaza, which provides for further opportunities to take in picturesque scenery, do some shopping, grab a bite, or even visit any of the three museums within short walking distance. Fisherman's Wharf at Monterey Harbor is not too far down the street from Portola Plaza opening up an even greater range of possibilities. Overall, I would unreservedly, highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the Monterey Peninsula, and looking for something a little different.

Having spent quite a bit of time in the Monterey area this tour was ok. The sound system in the bus made a lot of noise and was annoying. The movie information was interesting and it brought some new character to the area for me.

The Monterey movies tour was superb. The owner of the company gave a thorough explanation of movie scenes accompanied by playing the locations on video screen. The stop at Pebble Beach was awesome. Would definitely recommend this tour for anyone as a "must".

This tour was so enjoyable - a must see. We were "spoiled", having Doug, the company owner, as our tour guide and with a group of 25 cancelling at the last minute, we were a group of 5. Nothing but perfect seats!! Doug was extremely knowledgeable on movie facts and being able to watch movie clips while being at the actual scene put us right in the place and time. Also touring Pebble Beach and stopping at their Lodge was an added bonus. Thanks for a great afternoon.

My husband and I really enjoyed this scenic tour. It was amazing to see all the different places movies where filmed, and the beautiful historic locations of Monterey and Carmel. We even rubbed shoulders with the rich and the famous! This is definitely an experience everyone should have.

My husband and I are from Georgia and were taking a 2-week vacation up the Calif. coast. I saw this tour on the internet and thought it sounded like an interesting way to see the Monterey penninsula. I had to drag my husband on this tour because he is not a big fan of tours in general, is not a movie buff, and is very hard to please. I was on somewhat shakey ground because I had dragged him to a play in LA that he hated and he had not let me forget it. However, he raved about this tour. It was absolutely fabulous. If you like movies, you will be fascinated by this tour. We were lucky enough to have Doug, the owner, as a tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He had just the right touch. The tour is so unique and informative. If I am ever in Monterey again I will seriously consider retaking the tour . Try it! I think you will really like it, whether you are a movie buff or not.

Doug had much knowledge of the movies filmed in Monterey. He was a very good tour guide.
