Simply Outstanding

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time on this tour. The owner/tour guide was so very knowledgeable and his wit and humor added tremendously to the tour. We both loved the way he blended the movie clips with the actual scene we were observing out the windows of the bus. We would have driven by these localities without ever once suspecting what had been filmed there. But now we understand how much alive that whole area is in terms of being one big movie set. Since our son, Johnny Messner, is an actor we are a little knowledgeable of how films are made, but this tour really helped us learn so much more. We would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Monterrey. It was truly the highlight of our week on the peninsula. Thanks so much. Laurence and Dolores Messner Las Vegas, NV

Pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the tour. Neither of us are rabid fans of modern movies (sex is not a spectator sport) but the clips of flicks from an earlier era brought back happy memories.

Most references were for rather old movies so I don't know if many people under 30 or 40 will have ever seen the movies they spotlight. I'm older and a real movie fan so it was a terrific experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Was looking on the internet for something to do in Monterey-Carmel, and came across this bus tour. It was really a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the area. I suppose the tour guide was knowledgeable about the things he was talking about, he sounded convincing anyway. The scenery is spectacular, the movie scenes engaging, and the trivia from and about the various movies was alot of fun. Thanks for a great afternoon, the ticket price was worth it, and I definitely will recommend this tour to anyone wishing to see Monterey-Carmel and have a fun time to boot.

Good tour eventhough most of the movies were very old ones. There may not be any "more recent" ones available. The day was warm and the bus was too warm as it lacked air conditioning.

Very Enjoyable Afternoon

My friends and I enjoy movies and we are of an age to be familiar with most of the movies that were talked about. I particularly enjoyed the manner in which the film was run and then you would be there at the very location. The bus was comfortable and the sound system was excellent. Doug, the owner and our tour operator obviously enjoyed the material he talked about and is a wonderful ambassador for the Monterey area. Much of the tour centers on the 17 Mile Drive so if you are very familiar with this area you might want to rethink this tour, however a member of my group who knew it well thought he got a whole new perspective about it. The high point for me was getting out at Pebble Beach and being able to wander around. Views to die for! The street scenes of Monterey and Pacific Grove were more fleeting and not to much of Carmel. I also think this tour would be of greater interest to young people/foreign visitors if there was more history of the area included as what was included is quite fascinating. Also this is not a tour for young children. When I think back about it the 3 hours went speeding by and there is something to be said for "leave the driving to us."

GREAT, MUST-SEE TOUR!

Doug, the owner of Monterey Movie Tours, has done a wonderful job of putting together movie clips from many movies and then driving us by where the scene was filmed. He also stopped the bus and allowed us to get off 2 x, once along 17 mile drive, the second at Pebble Beach, so that was wonderful too. A very enjoyable tour, I did not want it to end! GO! Make sure you ask for a Senior or AAA discount before booking.
