It was fun to ride along and be taken back to days gone by when movies were black and white and still alot of romance. Pebble Beach was fun and being told the history. If we did ourselves we wouldn't have known any of that.

We would do it again in a moment.

This was way better than we thought it would be. It was well worth the price. We plan on doing this tour again next time in Monterey. The tour guide Doug Lumsden was very professional and had great knowledge of film and I can't say enough about how accomodating he was to everyone. I've been a film buff for years and I can say that Monterey Movie Tours will not disappoint anyone. Take this tour of scenic 17 mile drive, movie film locations, and multi-million dollar mansions. You won't regret it.

My brothers and I lived on the Monterey Peninsula many years ago. Since we all reside in Sacramento, it's so close for trips to Monterey. We do come quite often, at least twice a year. This time we thought why not take the Movie Tour. So glad we did. It was well worth the three hours and filled with so much wonderful information, tidbits and humor from Doug. This tour is one we would recommend to anyone going to the Peninsula. GREAT JOB!!!

Our friends really enjoyed the tour. We have done it before but thoroughly enjoyed it the 2nd time as well. Loved all the information, the comfort of the bus, and our informative leader. We will definitely bring other family & friends again.

Took a friend from southern California. Have told at least 3 friends since the tour how great it was. But, you must be at least 40 or older, I belive, to enjoy the tour. Young people would not know the stars the driver is speaking about.

Enlightening!

We loved the movie tour, and learned many new facts about local movies that we didn't know before. Although we enjoy the Del Monte Lodge at Pebble Beach, we thought the stay there was a bit long, and cut into what we otherwise could have viewed. We also love A Summer Place, but perhaps too many of the sites we viewed were from that movie. We would have liked to have seen more of films made in Pebble Beach and Carmel Highlands like Play Misty for Me, and some additional clips of movies made locally at sites where you can't drive in.

It's really fun to watch the movie scenes while at the exact site where they were filmed. Doug's knowledge of the area and the movie industry makes it so much more interesting. The beauty of the area is a bonus!

Memories

Doug, the owner, was the operator for our tour. He brought additional insight into each of the scenes with personal touches as well. It was interesting to view the scenes on the screen as we drove by the same areas which was where they were filmed. He even timed our arrival to coincide with the action in the scene. Along with seeing movies from the past, it brough nostalgia to the forefront since I had seen most of the same pictures in the theatre. Needless to say, the 3 hours went fast and looking forward to my next trip to Monterey to see what movies have been added to the repertoire.

Very Enjoyable Afternoon

My friends and I enjoy movies and we are of an age to be familiar with most of the movies that were talked about. I particularly enjoyed the manner in which the film was run and then you would be there at the very location. The bus was comfortable and the sound system was excellent. Doug, the owner and our tour operator obviously enjoyed the material he talked about and is a wonderful ambassador for the Monterey area. Much of the tour centers on the 17 Mile Drive so if you are very familiar with this area you might want to rethink this tour, however a member of my group who knew it well thought he got a whole new perspective about it. The high point for me was getting out at Pebble Beach and being able to wander around. Views to die for! The street scenes of Monterey and Pacific Grove were more fleeting and not to much of Carmel. I also think this tour would be of greater interest to young people/foreign visitors if there was more history of the area included as what was included is quite fascinating. Also this is not a tour for young children. When I think back about it the 3 hours went speeding by and there is something to be said for "leave the driving to us."

Fabulous afternoon

We were unable to do the tour last year as you were fully booked. This year we did, and loved it. It was the day beffore the tropical storm, so the ocean looked very scary and it was so windy but this added to the tour and the amazing views. The juxtaposition of the film clips to the ride was so well planned and so many of the films were known to us. Doug took the tour and how fortunate we were we to have him! Such a fascinatng and interesting afternoon and well worth the effort of driving to Monterey for the tour

Historic, Scenic, Movie Tour

This tour was so much more than a movie tour. I really enjoyed hearing the history of the area and seeing the beautiful coastline of the Monterey Bay. Seeing the movie clips, then seeing the spot where they were filmed was awesome. I had no idea that so many movies were filmed or had scenes from this area. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and really knew his movies and history. I have lived in this area for over 30 years and this is the first time I have taken this tour. From now on, it will be a must when I have visitors. I highly recommend it.

Monterey Movie Tour

I have been to the Monterey Peninsula many times,as I live nearby. This was a different and great way to show friends who come to visit., especially if you are limited on time and want them to experience this beautifu area! This tour was fantastic; enjoying the scenery as I didn't have to drive. Doug, the tour guide had stories that added local color. I am a movie buff, having owned a video store for ten years. It was great to see clips from old movies, filmed here. Doug, the tour director was great, very informative, and really knew the history of the area!
