Monterey Movie Tours

I enjoyed my 17 mile drive tour however was a little disappointed.  That may partly be due to the fact that the others on the tour were a little less than spontaneous, not even wanting to get off the bus at some of the stops.  I would have enjoyed a bit more exploring and interaction however that was not due to the tour or the driver but a result of the others on the bus, which they could not control.  The scenery was great.  Many of the movies that were pointed out were older movies and/or less than popular movies so overall I'd say that was the least exciting part of the tour.  The scenery was great but the movie connection not so much.

Doug knows his product and is very genuine and has an obvious love of the movie industry.Hand feeding the squirrels give the trip a nice surprise.Be sure to take a little bribery of food,as they are not interrested in small talk.The Lodge at Pebble Beach is a real treat.Overall a very nice experience I would recommend.

I traveled to CA to participate in the Big Sur Marathon and stayed for a few days in Monterey after the event. I decided to book this tour and was very happy I did. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and, of course, about the movies. The tour includes scenic 17-mile Drive, Pacific Grove, Carmel, and a stop at the Pebble Beach Golf Club, which was beautiful. I highly recommend this tour. It was relaxing and fun, exactly what I needed after the marathon.

Our motorcycle group looked forward to trying something different. Wow, Doug's Movie tour was the answer. All of us kicked back and enjoyed an excellent tour and saw sights we could not see on our motorbikes(17-mile drive). We all said we would repeat this tour without a doubt in the future. I love movies, so the tour was a very special treat for me. The tour stopped at the locations where movie scenes were filmed. We were at the exact same spot where the movie stars were...Marilyn Monroe, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, etc.! Doug is a terrific tour guide! I would recommend this tour to everyone!! my daughter and i went on this tour and Doug was great. it was very interesting and fun. enjoyed it immensely.

I didn't know what to expect for this trip, however we were pleasantly surprised. Doug was our tour guide. He shared knowledge of the Monterey, Carmel area with us in a fun and informative way. Seeing the movies while you saw the exact spot where they were filmed was a lot of fun. I have been going to Monterey and Carmel at least twice a year for many years. I learned little bits of triva and fun on this bus trip that I never knew. Great job Doug!

This is a must-see when you visit the Monterey Peninsula. Not only do you view some breathtaking scenery, but you learn a lot about the area that you would never find out on your own. Doug Lumsden, owner and operator, provides a wealth of information in his usual friendly, disarming way. Highlight: enjoy the view from the 18th green at Pebble Beach, up close and personal. Later, when you watch Tiger Woods walk the green on TV, you can say you were there. Doug, keep doing what you're doing. By the way, do you need any relief tour drivers?

We are both movie buffs and have lived in the area for 10 years, so when this tour just recently crossed our radar, we jumped on it. A friendly hello and beautiful, first-class coach greeted us the Portola Hotel and soon we were tooling down Pacific to the melodic sounds of Ethel Merman while viewing title clips from some of the many movies shot in our area. Prior to the tour, my base of information were some posters at the Whaling Shed in Pt. Lobos or a few varied and incomplete lists gleaned from Google. Doug runs his tour like a treasure hunt and the hidden gems, be they film locations or local folklore keep appearing. Places we've driven by 100 times have suddenly taken on a new meaning and interest. We have ordered many of the movies mentioned to view or rewatch in their entirety. Yet what is most touching, being locals, is to watch and note the reaction of folks who have come to visit (most from SoCal on our tour, escaping the fires). They are treated to some of the best there is to see and experience on the Monterey peninsula and clearly leave the tour with a better understanding of what makes our home so special. Our guide, Doug, gave my son and myself the VIP treatment. His enthusiasm, experience, and insider information really added to the subject matter and beauty of the surroundings. Whether you only have a short time or have a more leisurely trip to the Monterey penninsula planned, I highly recommend this informative and fun trip. After looking at the movie scenes and the actual scenery during the tour, I will be adding to my DVD collection! Be sure to add this tour to your itineary!!!!

We had a great time and our tour driver was just delightful...Very easy to talk to..Made us feel like we knew him for a long time already.....The Monterey Coast line is so pretty and wait till you walk into the Pebble Beach Hotel and see the ocean view!! It is stunning....

We really liked the tour and learned a lot about monterray bay and the different films that were filmed there...would highly recommend!!!!!
