We just happened to get the owner as our tour guide - he was very personable and seemed to enjoy giving the tour as much as we enjoyed going on it. It's nice to learn some of the history and behind the scenes things you wouldn't otherwise be aware of. |

Our expectations were exceeded. We had the feeling that it was more than just an informative tour but a mission. If you love Monterey, you will love it even more. If you love the movies, you will love them even more. Nothing but respect for the work Scenic Movie Tour of Monterey is doing. Can't always get sunshine but you will always go away with more than you came with. |

Great having a local personality in DJ Doug as our guide. He's a warm personality and very knowledgeable of the Monterey/Carmel area. Man, does he know his movies! It was fun watching the video clips as we approached each of the sites that was on them. "A Summer Place" with Troy and Sandra is one of my wife's favorite old-time movies and the theme from that movie is so hauntingly beautiful. The tour was not only movie sites but of the whole Monterey Peninsula (including Carmel and Pacific Grove), one of the most picturesque areas in all the world. We enjoyed the scenery in your comfortable bus and the several places for photo ops. Standing right alongside the 18th green at Pebble Beach was one of the highlights for me. Thanks for a great time!! |

I took this tour with my sister who lives in San Diego. I am a local resident having lived on the Peninsula for over 20 years. Taking this tour with my sister I once again realized what a magnificently pictueresque area Monterey truly is for any movie director.
It was just a lot of fun seeing actual movie sights and how Hollywood can make Pebble Beach appear to be England. The tour guide gives you Hollywood insider tips which are good for a laugh or amazement.
One aspect of the tour anyone would like is that you see the entire Monterey area in a three hour voyage and you don't have to drive it yourself, get lost, or pay the entrance fee into the 17 Mile Drive...you can sit back, relax, and leave the driving to somebody else...it's worth the price of admission to anyone who is in charge of dragging guests around on a vacation!
The tour guy has a soothing, Hollywood voice, who is adept at driving and providing fun facts of movie land all at the same time.
AND if you've ever wanted to see the 18th Hole of Pebble Beach this is the tour for you...there is a 40 minute stop over there and you too could have a glass of wine at the Pebble Beach Lodge overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the 18th Hole where the greatest of the golf world have played...just be sure to set aside $16.00 for that glass of wine!!!! ha ha
ENJOY...oh, kids would not really be interested in this tour...I doubt they'd appreciate the movies of Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Rooney...Take a date, leave the kids somewhere else...

We all (ages 56-85) appreciated the ease of finding the tour pick-up spot, the choice of a wide variety of films, the comfort of the coach, and the courtesy and careful preparation of the driver/guide. There are several movies we all want to see or see again now! |

My father was stationed at Fort Ord and the family moved to Salinas after he retired in the early 60's. We had many years in Monterey County before some family members settled in other areas of California. My husband and I have lived in Salinas with our own children since 1965.
The four of us siblings have a special weekend together a few times a year. After hearing about Monterey Movie Tours on Magic 63, I checked the website and decided this could be a very interesting and entertaining event for our next gathering. They were excited about it, too.
Finally our weekend came. The weather was beautiful, and the three hours flew by as we toured through Monterey County. The clips we saw from the numerous films - many of which were so familiar to us - were brought to life by seeing the actual sites along the tour. Our guide was a wealth of information and trivia, had a sense of humor, and was always willing to answer our questions.
It was wonderful to have this extra layer of life added to our lives' path in Monterey County. It was not only fun, but gave us an additional appreciation of this beautiful area, along with a strong desire to revisit many of the movies we learned about on our tour.
We all strongly recommend that visitors - and locals - take this interesting and fun tour.
Thank you for sharing the entertainment and local beauty in such a delightful way! We will definitely bring others back with us for a tour in the future.

Whether you are a film buff or not, I think everyone would enjoy this tour as the scenery is gorgeous, the (3) stops are interesting and the bus is very comfortable. I learned a lot about local history as well, and I particularly enjoyed the stories our enthusiastic guide told us about the area and the celebrities he has met over the years. |

We love movies. We love this area and are proud that so many films have and are being made here. My mother is 91... she had a great time remembering the older movies, especially the beach scene "From Here to Eternity"! The ongoing commentary about the local stars, real estate prices, etc. was very entertaining. The weather was beautiful, the music wonderful, and the sea gorgeous.

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time on this tour. The owner/tour guide was so very knowledgeable and his wit and humor added tremendously to the tour. We both loved the way he blended the movie clips with the actual scene we were observing out the windows of the bus. We would have driven by these localities without ever once suspecting what had been filmed there. But now we understand how much alive that whole area is in terms of being one big movie set. Since our son, Johnny Messner, is an actor we are a little knowledgeable of how films are made, but this tour really helped us learn so much more.
We would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Monterrey. It was truly the highlight of our week on the peninsula. Thanks so much.

Good tour eventhough most of the movies were very old ones. There may not be any "more recent" ones available. The day was warm and the bus was too warm as it lacked air conditioning. |
