Great to see all the movies filmed here as well as scenic highlights at the same time. I loved the stops at the lone cypress tree and Pebble Beach. Definitely worth the money and time spent. Our guide had perfect timing with the stops and movie scenes. I took down the list of movies mentioned and plan on watching them. Perhaps provide a list of the movies next time for the tour?? |

We are both movie buffs and have lived in the area for 10 years, so when this tour just recently crossed our radar, we jumped on it. A friendly hello and beautiful, first-class coach greeted us the Portola Hotel and soon we were tooling down Pacific to the melodic sounds of Ethel Merman while viewing title clips from some of the many movies shot in our area. Prior to the tour, my base of information were some posters at the Whaling Shed in Pt. Lobos or a few varied and incomplete lists gleaned from Google.
Doug runs his tour like a treasure hunt and the hidden gems, be they film locations or local folklore keep appearing. Places we've driven by 100 times have suddenly taken on a new meaning and interest. We have ordered many of the movies mentioned to view or rewatch in their entirety.
Yet what is most touching, being locals, is to watch and note the reaction of folks who have come to visit (most from SoCal on our tour, escaping the fires). They are treated to some of the best there is to see and experience on the Monterey peninsula and clearly leave the tour with a better understanding of what makes our home so special. In their words: it's an "E" ticket |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Hollywood Movie Tour of Monterey. Doug, the owner, was our guide. He made the tour very interesting. Doug really seems to enjoy sharing his passion for movies, especially those filmed in the beautiful Monterey/Pacific Grove/Pebble Beach/Carmel surroundings. He was a wonderful host. I would definitely recommend this tour! |

I live locally and wanted to give my 92 years young mother and out of town guests an overview of Monterey. Doug provided a magnificant day with perfect weather and a very unique perspective of central coast. The bus ride covered more than I had hoped for. It is clear that the owner has done his research and provides his guests with a real treat. A big "thumbs up" to Monterey Movie Tours. |

This is a double treat---a way to see the area's beauty spots without driving and a way to see where interesting old movies were shot. My husband has been coming to Carmel for 40 years but we saw places he didn't know about.
The stop at the Lodge was beautiful. We drank champagne---extra---overlooking the bay on a sunny day.
Highly recommend. The owner loves his subject and it shows in his talk. I think he showed over 70 film clips during the trip. |

Our guide, Doug, gave my son and myself the VIP treatment. His enthusiasm, experience, and insider information really added to the subject matter and beauty of the surroundings. Whether you only have a short time or have a more leisurely trip to the Monterey penninsula planned, I highly recommend this informative and fun trip. After looking at the movie scenes and the actual scenery during the tour, I will be adding to my DVD collection! Be sure to add this tour to your itineary!!!! |

The tour was well done, and very factural, which we liked. Accomodations were comfortable. Would recommend taking own water.
Wanted to hear more on Doris Day, too bad cant go down Ocean ave in Carmel. The stop at Pebble Beach was enjoyable. We enjoyed Dougs knowledge of
Movies and the Monterey area.... Thanks. Al and Joyce. Will recommend to our children |

Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the movies and scenes that were filmed on the Monterey Penisula and would have otherwise been unknown to us since very little credit has ever been given to this area for the making of these films. The cost was well worth it and my wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much. Thanks for a very wothwhile experinence. Anyone visiting the area should not pass up the oppurtunity to take this three hour tour and gain a piece of movie background that otherwise would not be known. |

I'm from Dublin, Ireland. My friends here in Marina toured me around the Monterey Peninsula quite a bit, but this tour was a wonderfully unique way to see the Peninsula. Brilliant!! (P.S. Don't forget that the MGM Grand lion was born in the Dublin Zoo.) |

My boyfriend & I had THE BEST TIME on this tour. Doug is so knowledgeable, & the tour is so well done. The movies shown on the screen match whatever he's talking about at the time. He has truly perfected this tour. The stops we made were necessary to the tour. Bird rock was absolutely gorgeous ! The lone cypress is truly awesome ! Pebble Beach was a real treat because there's no way we ever would have gone there without this tour, & yet we've heard about it our whole lives. The whole tour was truly a highlight of our weeklong trip to the San Francisco area. |

Not Worth the Money

The tour was interesting, but certainly not worth $49 + your fee of $2! The restroom break along the beach was a good idea, but 40 whole minutes at the Lodge was completely unnecessary. True, the view was spectacular, but 20 minutes would have been more than adequate. I would have rather seen more footage and more movie scenes. Essentially, it boils down to two hours at $51.
Of the 200 movies made on the Peninsula, we saw less than 15. Very disappointing. Had the brochure been more specific, I would never have wasted my time nor my money nor that of my friends.
