Monterey Movie Tours

The trip was interesting and informative. We visited places not seen by us before even though we have been in the area for over 12 years. The guide was knowledgeable and humorous and impressed our relative from overseas. The technology worked well and the stops were picturesque and interesting. The first one correctly had washroom facilities. A longer trip to include a visit to Pt Lobos park onm hioghway would be an excellent addition. More money I suppose?

We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see "the magic behind the movies" and visit actual locations. It gave all of us a fresh look at Monterey, Carmel and Pacific Grove. The host was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The coach was clean and comfortable. Seeing the homes along 17-Mile Drive was a bonus!

Not only their movie locations of past but he gives a good description and view of the areas highlights including the 17 Mile Drive and then 45 minutes at the Pebble Beach Golf Resort.

We booked this on the only day we could possibly go, as all other days were full. When we showed up, we learned that we were the only two people on the tour. There was a family of 20 who had to cancel. Rather than cancel the tour, Doug took us on what he called a VIP tour. And it really was. As he is from the area, his knowledge of general as well as little-known-facts was amazing. He gave us more than enough time at the stops,although there was one we didn't get due to some police and medical activity. When we got to the Pebble Beach Lodge, we strolled around and sat on the veranda to have a glass of wine. It was such a relaxing afternoon, we learned a lot of things we never knew. All in all, it was just a wonderful day and we appreciated so much the fact that Doug didn't cancel because there were only two people. He did a wonderful job, answered our questions and we would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great way to spend a few hours some afternoon.

We thoroughly enjoyed experiencing Monterey, the 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, and Carmel through the eyes of Hollywood on the Scenic Movie Tour of Monterey. Doug, the owner and host, added many details and anecdotes about the many movies that have been filmed in the area. As we drove by the movie locations, we watched the matching movie clips, enhancing the experience. We stopped at Pebble Beach Lodge and had time to look around the lodge and see the 18th green. There were incredible photo opportunities at each of the three stops. On this tour, we saw all the highlights of the peninsula and had a lot of fun along the way.

We really enjoyed this tour. It was so nice to have somebody else drive. You get to enjoy the scenery and get all the local noteworthy, and historical spots pointed out. Doug, our tour director was a wealth of local information. He gave us plenty of time to stop and take photographs. The stop at Pebble Beach Golf Course was a treat. Doug also recommended going back later for a drink and watch the sunset, which we did. We were really happy we had taken this tour. Anne

We are "quasi-locals"--from Cambria; we have visited the Peninsula many times. This was an opportunity to see familiar things in a new way, and new things we hadn't known of or experienced. As our guide (the "owner") stated, this was two tours in one. The movie focus was unique and very interesting. The "basic" tour was enthusiastically presented and equally as enjoyable. Thank you.

Did not know so many movies were filmed in the Monterery/Carmel area

Picture yourself on a clean bus with headrest covers embroidered with names of movie stars. Listen to the voice of guide and local radio personality Doug L. who knows the area, knows the gossip (but says only kind-hearted things) and who keeps the tour interesting with knowledge and humor. I admire how he respects the privacy of Monterey area celebrities, but still has many good-natured stories to tell. The tour is well paced and allows for short breaks. The monitors overhead show clips from movies filmed in the area, just as you drive by the location: National Velvet. A Summer Place, Turner & Hooch, and many, many more. See Marilyn Monroe working at the Cannery! Watch Doris Day almost drive off a cliff! Headsets assure that every passenger hears every word. My husband and I are from southern California and grew up around celebrities. This tour was still fascinating and well worth the price.

This was something different to a place that both my husband and myself love. It gave a new point to the 17 mile drive and being one who grew up watching most of these films it was even better.

Fun trip filled with a lot of information of the history of the area. We also liked the film information.

Our guest from Finland enjoyed every minute of the Movie Tour. Vicky watched many movies that Movie Tours covered, she said that is how she learned much of her English.

We had a great time doing the Monterey Movie Tour. Doug, the owner and tour leader, gives a great narration and we learned a lot about movies filmed in Monterey while have a nice tour of Monterey, Pacific Grove and the 17 Mile Drive - including Pebble Beach. Doug made it special as he obviously loves this area and he is both personable and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend it for visitors or local people. I have lived in Pacific Grove for 5 years and I really enjoyed it.

I'm a movie nut so this tour was great fun for my husband and I. The tour guy was informative and made it quite interesting. Not only the movies but the description of the area as well. The seats were comfortable and the video monitors and headsets were clear and had good volume. The stop at Pebble Beach was a little too long though 45 min. All in all I would highly recommend this event for everyone (over50 ish).
